    Your role at GEI. The Denver office of GEI Consultants is seeking a motivated geotechnical engineer to lead our geotechnical team, assist with complex and challenging projects at locations throughout the United States and Canada and become an integral part of our team of highly skilled professionals. The geotechnical practice provides engineering services for a wide range of projects including building foundations, dams, levees, tunnels, mining support, slope stabilization, ground improvement, and excavation support systems. Essential Responsibilities & Duties Supervise, manage and mentor junior staff; Assist in recruiting and training additional staff; Act as project manager and design lead, responsible for developing plans, sections, details and calculations; Actively support business development with frequent client contact and outreach to new and existing clients; Assist with feasibility studies and other technical analysis to evaluate various construction methods, foundation options, excavation support systems, etc; Manage the technical aspects for geotechnical engineering tasks including design and remediation of dams and levees; geotechnical instrumentation; geotechnical investigations and design for major water infrastructure, bridge, and waterfront projects; Prepare technical scopes of work for proposals and projects, project budgets, requests for proposals for contractors, and technical reports; Lead proposal teams and presentations; Lead and participate on multi-disciplinary, multi-geographic project teams; Maintain high visibility in the marketplace through participation in client-based professional organizations and attendance and presentations at industry events; Perform related administrative tasks including documentation of project activities, office administration, expense reports, purchase orders, invoicing support, etc; This position has a field component; some overnight travel is required. Minimum Qualifications Strong leadership, people management, and mentoring skills; Strong desire for working in a collaborative environment; Minimum of B.S. degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience. M.S. preferred; PE certification in Colorado is required within one year. PE in California is a plus; 15-20 years of previous professional experience in geotechnical engineering; significant Project Management experience, including proposal preparation and budgeting; thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations; proven business development skills; Strong verbal and written communication skills; Extensive geotechnical background including a strong fundamental knowledge of principles of geotechnical or geostructural engineering, soil and rock mechanics, earthquake engineering, and groundwater hydrology as they apply to both design and construction; Recognized for technical excellence and development of client-focused, creative, and practical solutions; Willingness and ability to travel on short-term assignments as needed; Willingness and ability to perform field tasks and oversight; Valid U.S. driver's license. Under supervision of senior staff, the Civil Engineer I/II (Structural) will be responsible for producing and/or reviewing engineering analyses, reports, construction drawings, specifications, and other deliverables. Essential Responsibilities & Duties Support evaluation and design efforts for structural steel, reinforced concrete, dams, excavation support systems, foundations, and other above and below grade structures, including preparation of calculation packages. Working on preliminary through final engineering designs; developing design recommendations and producing design deliverables; serving as a project structural engineer supporting the structural lead and/or engineer of record. Performing engineering construction oversight of heavy civil, structural, and other types of projects. Preparing and presenting technical presentations of evaluation results to internal team. Supporting data management and analysis, technical report development, and assisting in preparation of technical presentations and proposals to clients and regulators. Coordinating with the Design and Project Management Team to ensure on-time and on-budget project delivery. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field, required. Perform all inspections utilizing the BNSF's EAM system. Perform routine cleaning of the equipment associated with WWTP operations. Coordinating and/or assisting with WWTP repairs, maintenance, and cleaning utilizing the EAM system. Read, understand, and follow published test methods and standard operating procedures, including company and client specific programs. Produce accurate and complete documentation of operation, inspections, and compliance according to standard operating procedures.
