    Your role at GEI. GEI's Glastonbury, CT (Hartford) office is seeking a motivated & experienced Geotechnical Engineer / Project Manager to assist on a variety of projects throughout the region. Project types will include residential and commercial buildings, infrastructure and transportation, dams and levees, and waterfront development. Essential Responsibilities & Duties Plan, manage, and execute projects. Perform geotechnical analysis and design. Prepare geotechnical reports. Observe and manage field explorations and construction activities. Design and implement geotechnical instrumentation projects. Assist in preparing full design packages with calculations, drawings, and specifications. Assist in overseeing construction of specialty geotechnical items such as deep foundations, tiebacks, and grouting, among others. Develop proposals and participate in other business development activities. Communicate directly with clients, contractors, and third-party vendors. Train and mentor staff. Minimum Qualifications B.S. in Civil Engineering. Geotechnical course work required. 6 to 12 or more years of experience. Must have passed the F.E. exam. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Willingness to travel on assignments as needed. Must have a valid U.S. driver's license. Ability to perform field work on active construction sites without restrictions, and in inclement weather if required. Preferred Qualifications M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering preferred. Job Description AECOM's Water Business line is seeking a talented Water-Wastewater - Water Resources Engineer to support our Water, Wastewater, and Water Resources practice based in the New England Area - Chelmsford, MA, Boston, MA, or Rocky Hill, CT. The selected mid-level engineer will have a primary focus on water/wastewater/water resources utility planning, design, and condition assessment. The candidate will perform a variety of tasks, including site investigations, field measurements, utility investigations, capacity studies, condition assessments, conceptual through final design, cost estimating, and construction administration/observation. The successful candidate will have ample opportunities to develop professionally through frequent collaboration with senior engineers, project managers, clients, regulatory agencies, and industry-leading subject matter experts, and attendance at professional conferences. The responsibilities of this position to support state, municipal, and private clients include, but are not limited to: * Provide technical support for a variety of utility design related projects, including treatment plants, pump/booster stations, water line and collection line design, rehabilitation, master planning, and construction administration. * Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings. * Work under supervision of a project manager in the water/wastewater/water resources practice or senior level team members. * Utilize basic engineering principles, judgment, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems. * Work on routine or detailed engineering assignments involving calculations and engineering analyses. * Perform work with increasing responsibility. * Propose approaches to solve new problems. * Identify discrepancies in outcomes, results, and analysis of engineering tasks. * Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables. * Provide guidance to entry-level engineers. * Record and interpret data, conduct analyses, prepare reports, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance. * Perform data gathering site visits, field measurements, mapping, and observations during construction. * Providing construction support for review of shop drawings, request for information, and site visits to the construction * Perform quality control review of design calculations or drawing. Qualifications Minimum Requirements * BA/BS degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline +2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. * 2+ years of experience in planning, modeling, and/or design of water, wastewater, and stormwater utility projects. * Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or ability to obtain in 6 months. * Valid U.S. Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review. Preferred Qualifications * Progressive experience with water/wastewater utility planning, modeling, condition assessment, and design. * Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, AutoCAD, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models). * Demonstrated time management skills, work ethic, and attention to detail. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with technicians, designers, engineers, and project managers for the preparation of high-quality work products. * Ability to communicate and coordinate with clients, subconsultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public as may be necessary to accomplish assigned objectives. * Ability to work productively in a collaborative team environment and demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn. * Detail oriented while still able to understand/comply with the big picture/goals of a project. * Ability to multi-task and work independently. * Flexible - can adapt to shifting priorities / work schedules.
