We are seeking a highly professional and flexible Per Diem Chaplain to provide spiritual support within a daytime schedule. We are proud recipients of the Spiritual Care Excellence Award from the Healthcare Chaplaincy Network, recognizing our outstanding spiritual care services.
This position offers coverage for full-time and part-time chaplaincy staff, with hours Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
No onâcall or evening responsibilities are required.
Healthcare experience is preferred.
Primary Function:
The Chaplain will provide spiritual care for patients, family and staff. The Chaplain will function as an interdisciplinary member of the patient unit care teams addressing emotional, spiritual, and other support needs. The chaplain is an invaluable asset to the spiritual care department. While offering expertise and flexibility they are esteemed because of their adaptability and availability.
Job-Specific Competencies:
A broad interfaith theological knowledge base and familiarity with diverse religious experiences across cultures.
Lives the CARES values at all times.
Actively provide patients, family, visitors, and staff spiritual care as appropriate.
Respond to requests for spiritual care promptly
Provide and coordinate ritual and sacramental needs
Promote an interdisciplinary approach to spiritual care
Assist in the coordination of clergy and pastoral visitors from the religious community
Provision of chaplain coverage as needed
Participate in monthly departmental staff meetings and other hospital committees as appropriate.
Ensure and monitor compliance with hospital procedures, charting, and statistics.
Participate in the department's plan for continuous quality improvement
Qualifications:
Required Successful completion of 1 unit of CPE, more than 1 unit preferred
Endorsement, ordination and/or letter of support affirming candidates' suitability from appropriate leadership within candidates' spiritual tradition.
A broad interfaith theological knowledge base and familiarity with the diversity of religious experience across cultures required
Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, skills in working independently and interdependently, and a strong team member, required
Board certification preferred
Education:
Masters of Divinity or Master's Degree in related field required.
Experience:
At least 1 year of experience as a chaplain in a health care setting preferred.
Pay Range: $22.00 - $28.00
Starting Pay: Based on Experience
