Duties:
Prepares and assembles patient meals per order in an accurate, timely fashion according to prescribed diet order.

Uses acceptable practices pertaining to foodservice sanitation in their work area(s).
Demonstrates understanding of the importance of portion control; diet modification, waste control, standardized recipe use.
Uses all equipment in a safe and sanitary manner.
Maintains a clean and sanitary work area.
Refers high-risk patients to dietitian for follow-up.
Completes floor stock sheets and inventory accurately and thoroughly.

Job Description
Performs a variety of foodservice tasks in support of the hospital foodservice program. Works under moderate supervision primarily in the following areas: Cafeteria, main kitchen, and patient tray line. The incumbent will be expected to adhere to establish guidelines in regard to hospital, sanitation, safety, and cash handling controls.
*Will have to work weekends depending on department needs.*
Job Duties:
Operates cash register, collects cash and charge tickets. Dispenses correct change to customers while maintaining an efficient line speed. Follows proper cash handling protocols according to established standards.
Organizes and assembles food and supply requisitions for department.
Maintains working knowledge of patient trayline positions and tray assembly process.
Follows proper cleaning standards according to regulatory agency guidelines and Infection control guidelines.
Sets food up at proper station(s) and dispenses according to established policy, diet regulation and/or regulatory agency standards.
Operates all equipment including dishwashers, slicers, floor washers, blenders ETC according to established standards and using proper safety techniques.
Maintains adequate supply of dishes, utensils, glassware, and paper service to run an efficient operation during all meal services.
Reports to work in proper and clean uniforms according to established departmental and hospital policy.
Complies with all HIPPA, Infection Control and Safety policies.
Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers, and others
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Current Food Handler Certificate (or within 30 days of hire).
Previous experience in a foodservice setting.
Ability to understand and follow instructions furnished in written, oral, and/or diagram form is required.
Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
Must be able to demonstrate a cooperative work relationship.
Good interpersonal and communication skills are important.
Ability to follow JCAHO regulations for food handling, sanitation, and food preparation desired.

+ Demonstrate operation of an automated dishwashing solution and the correct use of soap and other solutions/chemicals used to clean and sanitize dishes. Sort clean dishes and silverware according to departmental policy.
+ Appropriately transport clean dishes, pots, pans and utensils to storage areas.
+ Timely report broken or damaged wash ware or utensils to supervisor.
+ Responsibly open and close the Café on time. Ensure café is ready for business before each meal period.
+ Correctly operate a cash register. Accurately and efficiently make change, cash checks and issue receipts or tickets to customers. As needed, accurately enter in requisitions into café point of sale system.
+ Correctly record amounts received and prepare reports of transactions.
+ Accurately read and record totals shown on cash register tape and verify against cash on hand.
+ Complete cleaning log daily. Keep area and all equipment clean.
