Fellows rotate through Geisinger's 5 intensive care units, gaining hands-on experience with diverse patient populations and pathologies. Fellows also have the opportunity to work with the anesthesia team to develop advanced airway management skills. Dedicated elective time allows fellows to tailor their training to their interests and career goals. Core Rotations: Required Orientation Activities: 1 week Trauma ICU: days/nights, 4-6 weeks Medical ICU: days/nights, 8-10 weeks Surgical ICU: days/nights, 8-10 weeks Neuroscience ICU: days/nights, 8-10 weeks Cardiac ICU: days/nights, 8-10 weeks Anesthesia/Airway: days, 2 weeks Triage: nights, 2 weeks Elective: 2-4 weeks The didactic component of the fellowship complements clinical training with structured education. Fellows participate in monthly simulation labs to practice patient management in emergencies and procedural skills in a controlled environment. They also engage in monthly critical care morbidity and mortality (M&M) conferences to promote reflective learning and continuous improvement. Weekly critical care and resident lecture series provide exposure to core topics, evidence-based practices and emerging developments in critical care medicine.
