1960 Indianapolis Homes changes its name to the Gene B. Glick Company, Inc.
The company began building multifamily housing in 1962.
1962 Glick becomes the largest single-family home builder in Indiana.
1964 The company forms its apartment management division, Gene Glick Management Corporation.
1974 Glick begins focusing solely on multi-family housing development and management.
In 1982, they established the Glick Family Foundation.
He began his maintenance career with Glick in 1995, starting as a part-time groundskeeper, and working up to regional maintenance manager.
1998 Gene B. Glick is featured in Tom Brokaw’s best-selling book, The Greatest Generation, calling Glick “a very, very successful builder in Indiana.”
He joined the company in 2005 and worked his way up, first as a maintenance supervisor and then as a regional maintenance manager.
2006 The Eugene & Marilyn Glick Family Foundation and The Glick Fund, a fund of the Central Indiana Community Foundation, announce a $15 million gift for the construction of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail.
2007 Current President and CEO, David Barrett, joins the Company.
2007 The Eugene & Marilyn Glick Family Foundation announces a $30 million gift to the Indiana University School of Medicine for a new Glick Eye Institute in Indianapolis.
In 2008, the Glick Family Foundation began a transition of leadership from Gene and Marilyn to the next generation of directors.
The Indiana Authors Awards were established in 2009 through the vision and generosity of Eugene and Marilyn Glick as a way to honor the contributions of Hoosier authors to the literary landscape in Indiana and across the nation.
Janine was recognized as one of the Indianapolis Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” in 2010.
Colin has been involved in the acquisition and disposition of over $600 million in apartments in his career, but helping the Gene B. Glick Family Housing Foundation grow from five properties when he started in 2011, to nearly 30 properties has been a truly rewarding achievement.
2013 After nearly 12 years of planning and construction, the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene & Marilyn Glick officially opens as a completed project.
He also received the Indiana Apartment Association Award for Assistant Manager of the year in 2014.
His experience coordinating major sporting events such as the NFL Scouting Combine, 2015 NCAA Men’s Final Four, Indianapolis Colts games and more has translated nicely to his role in planning and executing large-scale volunteer events with community partners on behalf of Glick.
2015 Glick breaks ground on River North at Keystone, a mixed-use development in the heart of Keystone at the Crossing.
2016 The Corporate Office relocates to River North at Keystone, a joint venture between Glick and PK Partners.
2017 The Glick Family Foundation honors the Gene B. Glick Company’s 70th Anniversary by randomly selecting 70 Glick employees to donate $1,000 to a charity of their choice.
2017 Quarry at River North Apartments, the company’s newest development project, opens in Indianapolis, IN.
In October 2018, Glick Philanthropies announced its desire to partner with a statewide organization to expand the reach of the awards, inspire even more Hoosiers to read and write, help springboard emerging authors’ careers, and further promote Indiana as a great place to be a writer or a reader.
2019 The Gene B. Glick Company was named as one of the Best Places to Work Multifamily®.
2020 The Gene B. Glick Company was named as one of the Best Places to Work Multifamily® for the 2nd year in a row.
The Gene B. Glick Company is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2022.
