Senior Automation Engineer - Infrastructure
The Automation Senior Systems Engineer provides engineering, lifecycle support and continuous improvement for infrastructure (hardware, system software, networks, data interfaces) related to computer systems that automate manufacturing operations and manage data required for product release in a 24x7 Good Manufacturing Practice facility.
The site and position focus is primarily on safety and quality, followed by the efficient delivery of medicines in alignment with regulatory requirements, the site production plan and corporate / network priorities. The successful candidate must have a passion for applying computer system technologies to deliver life-changing medicines to patients while improving the speed and consistency of the delivery of business results.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide the engineering and support services for the Operational/Information Technology Infrastructure for the process automation systems and utility control system.
Follow Quality Systems and Processes to maintain systems in a validated GMP state Participate and lead system audits (internal & external Government agencies) Actively work to identify and close any gaps, identify and implement remediation activities in a timely manner Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills both internal and external Excellent communication skills including experience creating and maintaining system lifecycle and support documents Function as System Owner / Delegate for Vacaville Computerized systems as applicable Support 24x7 manufacturing operations with off shift support on a rotating basis and occasional onsite support during night

Hardware/server support (virtualized and physical), maintenance and upgrade Windows Server administration including management of Domains, Active Directory and Group PoliciesStorage and (SAN & NAS) Networking fundamentals, be able to troubleshoot end-to-end communication and protocols.Database support, maintenance and troubleshooting.Scripting to automate routine systems administration tasks Ability to develop innovations that solve difficult technical problems Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing), influence and lead both with and without authority, as well as strong analytical skills, planning and organizational skills Be able to identify problems, define problem statements clearly and accurately and apply structured and disciplined methodology to identify data-driven root causes Capable of working independently, effective at managing multiple tasks and projects, flexible and able to adapt quickly to new and changing situations
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering (Masters preferred) Minimum five years of experience in industry, with focus on system engineering of manufacturing execution and batch control systems in 21 CFR Part 11 compliant cGMP production facility or other regulated environment MCSE, MCSA and/or VCP certifications strongly preferred Thorough working knowledge of the Food and Drug (FDA) Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs) and the European Medicines Authority (EMA) including the International Council of Harmonization (ICH) regulations Thorough understanding of industry standards and best practices for computer systems such as GAMP 5Previous work experience with Distributed Control System (DCS), Building Automation Systems (BAS), PLC, SCADA, PI, MES is a plus Knowledge of Batch manufacturing concepts (S88, recipes, phases etc.) and OPC communication protocols Working knowledge of Building Automation System (Siemens) PreferredWorking Knowledge of Automation/Control Systems (Honeywell, POMS, Emerson DeltaV/Syncade, Rockwell, Wonderware) desirable Familiarity with Paperless Validation System and JIRA is a plus Practical experience with quality risk management and risk-based validation approaches An established record of successful project completions employing proven engineering and project management skills Experience preparing a variety of automation engineering project documentation, including business and functional requirements, design specifications, test protocols, and technical support documentation Strong technical writing, verbal communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently, organize and manage individual as well as lead larger scale projects

The expected salary range for this SE6 level position based on the primary location of California is $105,000 min -$196,000 max of hiring range. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
