Overview
Reporting to the Paint Supervisor, the Powder Painter is primarily responsible for applying powder paint on production parts. Must have powder application knowledge. May be required to help in other production operations within the department. Must be able to perform all task of Paint tech 3 position. Good housekeeping and organizational skills are an essential part of this role. This position is highly technical and good team working skills are needed.
Responsibilities
Apply powder with manual powder gun application
Troubleshooting skills of powder application is needed for this position
Must have good knowledge of cleaning powder equipment for color changes.
Perform color changes on automatic powder application equipment.
Follow direction of powder room coordinator on how to apply powder in certain areas of parts.
Willing to advance skills through out powder application process.
Good housekeeping and organization skills are needed for this assignment. Room should be dust free
May perform tasks of a Tech 3 role.
Perform preventative maintenance as required on the line.
Report any issue on bad racking or needed improvement that will affect quality.
Mark product that has any defect to make sure it is not passed onto our customers.
Work over time to support customer demands or perform preventive maintenance.
Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to efficiently work in a team and coordinate work with other departments.
Aptitude to take orders and execute the same efficiently.
Knowledge of Basic Print reading and torque values.
Have 2 years experience with powder application unless promoted with in department.
Basic Computer Knowledge.
High school degree, diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from is accredited institution.
Demonstrated detail orientation, self motivation skills and ability to multi-task
Must be able to help in ALL areas of the paint department when needed

POSITION SUMMARY
Under minimal supervision, prepare wood, metal, and fiberglass surfaces for painting, and paint parts, equipment, the interior and exterior of ships and Company equipment and buildings.

Paint areas inaccessible to spray gun or retouch painted surface, using brush/roller.
Mix and match colors of paint.
Maintain a clean work area, tools, and equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalence plus one to three years of marine painting experience desired. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered. Knowledge of ship terminology, safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations desired. Knowledge of the transportation and storage of hazardous material requirements desired. Working knowledge of marine coating applications and surface preparation required. Working knowledge in the proper use and care of spray guns, brushes and rollers, sandblasting equipment, etc. required.
Skills: Ability to read and comprehend written, oral, or diagram forms. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Knowledge of the safe operation and use of hand and power tools. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure. Ability to determine the difference between colors, matching or detecting any type of difference between colors they work with.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. Qualifications:

JOB OVERVIEW
For Paint Prep, this position plays a crucial role in ensuring a high-quality finish of products for various customer projects. Working within a dynamic team environment, the ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail and a passion for delivering top-notch craftsmanship.
ROLE + RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but not limited to)
Hang or handle products safely using a variety of hooks and carts for the painting process.
Clean and prepare part surfaces as specified.
Inspect parts prior to painting for needed repair, sand or body work if may be required.
Mask parts and plug holes to print notes stating tight tolerances for overspray prevention.
Inspect parts for defects, repair or repaint if required.
Effectively manage time to ensure on-time delivery of every project.
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and tools including painting, mixing equipment as well as booths and filtration.
Ability to work required overtime when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in metal fabrication preferred.
Proven experience as a construction assembler or similar role in metal fabrication.
Skilled in reading blueprints, diagrams, and technical drawings.
Strong mechanical aptitude with proficiency in hand/power tools, welding, and machinery.
Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, adaptable environment, while wearing PPE on a regular basis is required.
Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills and a focus on quality.
Effective verbal and written communication, with ability to follow instructions.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
A Painter is responsible for applying protective and decorative coatings to a variety of surfaces in industrial and facility environments. The primary responsibilities will vary based on the type of painting required. These duties may include preparing surfaces, mixing and applying paint or coatings, and ensuring all work is completed according to specifications and safety standards. The position involves using various tools and equipment to ensure the proper application of finishes and coatings.
The following are the generalized duties expected of a Painter:
Prepare surfaces for painting by removing contaminants such as grease, dirt, rust, and old pain
Set up and maintain equipment and tools required for painting tasks
Mix and apply primers, paints, and other coatings to ensure proper coverage and finish
Mask areas that should not be painted
Ensure the proper application of coatings, including multiple coats where necessary

Wage range for this role is between $20 - $45 an hour plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities
