Even though most general assistants have a college degree, it's possible to become one with only a high school degree or GED.

When we researched the most common majors for a general assistant, we found that they most commonly earn bachelor's degree degrees or high school diploma degrees. General assistants make the most in Connecticut with an average salary of $80,599. Whereas in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, they would average $74,995 and $74,990, respectively. While general assistants would only make an average of $66,636 in New Jersey, you would still make more there than in the rest of the country.
