The charter of the Advanced Structure & Survivability Group is the design, development, verification, and implementation of components related to Hull Structure, Integral and Applique Armor, Crew Hatches and Access Panels, including accompanying mechanisms, and Covers and Guards. This functional engineering team supports the entire portfolio of products and programs within GDLS ranging from new technology demonstration to pre-production development and ultimately full scale vehicle production. As a member of this functional engineering team, the Structure and Weld Application Engineering Intern will, under the supervision of a mentor, be assigned a project that will support the design and development of detail hardware and/or welded assemblies associated with Hull or Turret Structures or peripheral mechanical hardware including Hatches, Access Panels, and Covers & Guards across all vehicle platforms.
