General maintenance technician job description

Pay: $22.00/HR

Shift:

1st - 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (2)

2nd - 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM (1)

Typical Day:

- Will conduct light maintenance on facility (lights, minor repairs, general upkeep)

- Complete building maintenance (painting, equipment moving, assist in wiring, etc.)

- Will operate a forklift and tow motor for material handling

- Opening and closing (locking up) the building

- Assist in setting up workstations

- Assist in production when necessary (coating, painting, reworking parts, assembly, etc.)

- Assist in troubleshooting and repair of facilities and production equipment

- Order and maintain spare parts and equipment

- Assist and monitor contractors for building repairs (heating and air, overhead doors, etc.)

- Use basic computer skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

- High level of mechanical inclination

- Experience operating forklift / tow motor

- Will lift, bend, twist, walk majority of shift

This candidate will wear quite a few hats - no "that's not my job" mentality

As a General Maintenance Technician I in our local retail store, you will work to perform routine maintenance to ensure safety, proper functionality, and aesthetics of Walmart Stores, equipment, or fixtures under the supervision of the local General Maintenance Manager, following established maintenance schedules and guidelines, inspecting, cleaning, and repairing facilities, equipment, or fixtures.
What are the essential functions of the General Maintenance Technician I:
Maintain and repair Walmart facilities, equipment, and assets by utilizing multiple craft skills (for example, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, food equipment) and using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment to complete jobs Utilize the work order management system to receive reactive repair Work Orders to support Stores and Store associates and documenting repair activities Provide prompt response to emergency maintenance calls Inspecting, operating, or testing facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues Complete all required training requirements to safely operate equipment and tools

18 years or older High School Diploma or equivalent Vocational or Technical certification and 1 years' experience, or 2 years’ total work experience, in one of the following trades: plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related trade Valid Driver's License Can lift 20 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally Can move up and down ladders frequently Comfortable working at heights frequently

RESPONSIBILITIES




Reads and understands Press Instruction Sheet, Palleting Instruction, and Carton Packing Sheet.
Communicates with Department Shift Supervisor any issues effecting the department or production.
Ensures mail is processed according to USPS regulations.
Performs downtime tasks as assigned.
Provides training to newly hired personnel.
Actively participates in safety programs, follows safety policies and procedures and maintains a safe work environment.
Manages self-development.
Other duties as assigned.
