What You'll Do
This 12-week Operations internship will be based in a GM Automotive Parts warehouse and drives the operational efforts of GM's Customer Care and Aftersales organization. The position supervises a team of union-represented operations employees, or a departmental function in a warehouse processing center or distribution center. The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the department workforce to ensure accurate and timely parts shipments to customers.
With direct guidance from the General Supervisor, you will motivate hourly operations employees and business partners through effective communication, training, coaching, development, recognition, and supervision. You will demonstrate expertise of the processes your team is required to perform and ensure your team members are effectively performing job responsibilities utilizing standardized methods.
Additional responsibilities include:
Provide instructions to direct reports on course of action and serves as a resource for them on standardized work, quality standards and processes within the area, as well as relevant company policies and procedures.
Addresses and resolves any issues faced by team members, proactively mitigates conflicts to prevent escalation, and assigns tasks while closely monitoring progress at regular intervals.
Proactively anticipates needs of the areas managed, by consistently training and rotating team members to ensure that there is no disruption in the execution of work.
Identifies opportunities for improvement using tools such as layered audits

Required Qualifications:

The Role:

Our plants are the groundwork for GM and a hotbed of innovation. We need controls engineer interns to assist maintenance personnel in operation and maintenance of specialist equipment.
As a Controls Engineer Intern, you would be accountable for controls engineering and electrical support for industrial manufacturing equipment. These tasks would teach you electrical root causing analysis and problem solving as well as leadership skills to provide technical support and direction to support personnel/skilled trades within the organization. Quality and safety are extremely meaningful to us, so enforcing safe work practices is the highest priority and implementing objectives for ergonomics, health/safety, and housekeeping, which means that you would have to investigate system and equipment problems and provide technical input in problem resolution.
Responsibilities:
* Leads electrical projects including new or operations improvements, and periodic repair and replacement
* Participates in functional area plant meetings and related activities to represent engineering and to assist in reaching the plant's performance goals
* Develops cost estimates, investment forecasts, business cases, appropriation requests and plans for minor project activity
* Utilizes statistical methods for continuous improvement on plant systems
* Develops and monitors planning timetables and projects schedules
* Coordinates and communicates the development of changes to improve conditions for the assembly process

Role Summary Our Rivian Technical Trades Program is a pathway to grow our Field Service Team and work towards keeping the world adventurous forever. In joining the journey to become a Rivian Field Service Technician, you will learn the fundamental skills to be successful in a high-paced and technologically driven environment. During the program, you will obtain hands-on training at a Rivian Service center and receive exclusive instructional guidance in a classroom setting. The program is designed to provide our students with the necessary tools to develop a successful career in the world of Electric Vehicles. Upon successfully completing our six-month program, you will receive a certificate and the opportunity to join the Rivian Field Service Team. This individual will provide legal support on commercial transactions and provide advice and counsel related to Caterpillar's relationships with its strategic suppliers. The role will require frequent interaction with business clients, including Caterpillar's senior procurement and product group leadership, as well as with other lawyers within Law, Security & Public Policy.
A successful candidate should be comfortable managing a large volume of commercial matters, be skilled at prioritization, and be able to adjust quickly to accommodate business needs. Responsiveness and efficiency are critical components of the position.
What You Will Do:
* Draft and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements, primarily focused on procurement relationships
* Work with internal clients to ensure agreements accurately reflect business needs and protect Caterpillar

The Role:
The Paint Process Engineer position is a fast-paced manufacturing engineering position in which you will work with paint robots, circulation systems, air handlers and ovens. The Arlington Paint Process Engineer is responsible for auditing and validating all processes required for painting GM's full-sized SUVs.
Process Engineers' day-to-day activities include working with technicians troubleshooting processing concerns, analyzing quality trends, modifying painting and baking recipes, programming robots and many other rewarding engineering changes. The Process Engineer is also responsible for supervising a small group of process technicians.
What You'll Do: (Responsibilities):
* Maintain of SFMEA's, PFMEA's and Control Plans. Analyze, develop, process, and implement Engineering Changes
* Utilize structured problem-solving techniques such as DMAIC, Ishikawa, Five Why (5W). Able to resolve high level performance issues into addressable actions.
* Statistical Process Control and its application
* Employee development including mentoring, training, and evaluation of employees
* Project Management
* Troubleshoot process improvement needs as well as root cause identification of equipment procedures
* Work with plant process teams in development and continuous improvement of paint process
Your Skills & Abilities: (Required Qualifications):
* Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience
* 3yrs experience automotive manufacturing
* Ability to work all shift (1st, 2nd & 3rd)
* Ability to work OT and weekends
* Experience commissioning and/or operating manufacturing equipment and systems.
* Demonstrated oral and written communications skills
* Demonstrate high level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and assignments with medium level of autonomy and high accountability for results (may work under the direction of a senior process engineer).
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
* 5+ Years of experience in manufacturing (robotic or paint processes)
* Knowledge and experience with effective implementation of Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) principles and methods

* Experience with FANUC Paint and Sealer Robots; P-200, P-500, P-700, P-1000, S-500, M-710, M-720iA, M-2000, M-20iA.
* Ability to read electrical and mechanical prints.
* Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable
