As a Controls Engineer Intern, you would be accountable for controls engineering and electrical support for industrial manufacturing equipment. These tasks would teach you electrical root causing analysis and problem solving as well as leadership skills to provide technical support and direction to support personnel/skilled trades within the organization. This position is located in Toledo, Ohio. Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and property structures, in addition to performing grounds maintenance. All work will be done in compliance with EPA, Hazmat and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
* Troubleshoot and repair machinery and equipment with minimal supervision using safe techniques and schematics. Perform electrical tasks and incidental work as needed to achieve assigned task.
* Perform electronic component replacement per familiarity and/or training. Verify equipment as functional and leave the area clean and safe.
* Operate in response to requests by Maintenance Supervisor or support personnel and set priorities as required to maximize equipment uptime.
* Utilize measurement devices to hold print tolerances and industry standards while performing machine repairs and assembly.
* Participate in preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve operational uptime and equipment life. Recommend improvements and/or changes to PM systems/tasks when applicable.
* Follow designated work instructions as outline for specific functions. These include, but are not limited to; PM work orders, utilizes eMaint CMMS system, continuous improvement tasks, new machine installation set-ups and changeovers, and repair/refurbish assignments.
* Update drawings/prints, order and maintain spare parts and suitable replacements, and perform various forms of machine repair/rebuild in a professional manner per line-up and schematics.
* Maintaining and repairing the building and assets both inside and outside the property.
* Electrical experience and knowledge in 480V 3-phase, 120V, DC voltage, high AMP loads and Delta and Y systems.
* Willing to attend training courses either on or off site.
* Follow standard practices and all governmental regulations and laws relating to powered equipment.
* Must be able to work independently, follow through and complete tasks, and handle a multitask workload.
* Perform other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and management.
Requirements:
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
* Technical degree or Journeyman Card (Preferred)
* Good electrical and mechanical skills, as demonstrated through an aptitude test.
* 3+ years of industrial manufacturing maintenance experience preferred, preferably in the automotive industry.
* Must have strong background in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, robotic arms, welding, basic fabrication, and overall machine troubleshooting skills.
* Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits and systems up to 110 volts.
* Familiarity with complex machinery, electrical circuits, and plant operating equipment. Should maintain a sense of urgency, self-motivation and overall good work ethic while performing tasks in a safe manner.
* Knowledge of industrial, mechanical, electrical codes, techniques, and standards. Familiarity with government regulations for industry and safe work practices dealing with machine repair.
* Skills in interpersonal relations both written and oral communications.
Physical Demands:
* A physically demanding position requiring lifting and carrying up to 60lbs. The ability to stand continuously is essential with occasional walking and sitting. The nature of this position will require employee to perform a wide range of physical activities ranging from pushing and pulling objects up to 30lbs, reaching, bending, and squatting.

Job Purpose
The primary responsibility of this position is to perform the required testing following specific procedures, process, and completing them on time. Other duties include but are not limited to the following:
Job Duties and Responsibilities
* Set up, create test profiles, operate dynamometers as well as fatigue test benches for driveline components, sub assemblies and full assemblies.
* Work with requesting engineers and test engineers to insure correct fixturing, set-up, operation, and acquisition of data for test requests.
* Assemble and disassemble driveline components and assemblies.
* Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues encountered during assembly/Setups and escalate if needed.
* Support total quality management objectives including all KPIs, and WIs, in a team environment.
* Adhere to all Operating procedures and Work instruction related to this position.
* Assist with calibration of equipment, and perform equipment verification as necessary.
* Assist with the quality system and associated documentation (lessons learned)
* Perform data analysis on raw data from the test stands to confirm test completed
* Inspect disassembled components of tested parts for determination of damage and possible causes
* Support Safety First Assessments - complete findings and HERO forms
* Assistance Test Engineers on organizing parts, fixtures, and other necessary items for upcoming tests
* Submit maintenance requests as required for recognized issues with equipment
* Responsible for equipment uptime and updating the daily schedule for each department.
Qualifications Desired:
* Preferred Associates Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering technology.
* High School Diploma or GED Required.
* 2+ years of experience in automotive field
* Test lab experience (Equipment troubleshooting, Setup, and Profile writing)
* Maintenance and Calibration Experience -preferred
* Experience with electromechanical systems, understanding of electric motors, and sensor fundamentals.
* Experience with LOTO, High Voltage and electrical principles (arc flash, PPE)
* Knowledge of CAN, Ethernet, RS232, GPIB - preferred
* Excellent mechanical aptitude - Experience with assembly and disassembly of various mechanical equipment.
* Self-directed, motivated, and organized individual who is willing to accept responsibility and complete tasks on time.
* Strong Microsoft Office skills.
* REPS, MTS MPT and Basic Test ware. - preferred
* Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays and off-shifts as requested
* Must have a valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
* Able to lift up to 35 lbs. repetitively and stand for approximately 90% of the time.
