Responsibilities:
Lead and manage all aspects of production operations, including scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation
Ensure compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies
Monitor production metrics and implement strategies to improve throughput, yield, and efficiency
Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to resolve operational issues and minimize downtime
Develop and train production staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Maintain accurate production records and reporting systems
Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and process optimization initiatives
Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions
Drive lean manufacturing principles and 5S practices across the production floor
Serve as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders and external auditors
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, etc.) or Technical Certification
5+ years of experience in furnace/smelting/heavy industrial/heavy chemicals
Lean Six Sigma certification
Experience in continuous improvement programs, such as lean manufacturing and 6S
Proven leadership experience managing production teams in a union or non-union environment
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety regulations, and quality standards.

Responsible for bi-yearly in-charge testing and yearly pay evaluations of team members.
Maintains production documentation, employee documentation and sets and explains expectations of KPI's to the team.
Works with the 24-hour managers towards continued improvement plans.
Supports continuous improvement, initiatives in the facility and participates to ensure success.
Train new production supervisors per all PTK standards

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; a minimum three-month continuous work experience and/or training required.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Clear, concise written and verbal skills and problem-solving skills required. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively after groups of team members.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Experience using Microsoft office systems, Excel and Word a plus
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED WORK HOURS
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, First Shift - 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 2nd Shift - 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. or Sunday through Thursday, Third Shift - 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m. Occasional overtime throughout the week and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
