General Pump company history timeline

1926

The pressure washing industry can trace its roots back to 1926 and the glory days of prohibition.

1938

General Pump Company, Inc. was founded in 1938 by Matthew Peck of Peck Well Drilling, a cable tool drilling company located in Gardena, California.

1964

His career started in 1964, when his best friend’s father and one of the founders of Hypro, Ernie Cook, offered Bode a job when he was 19.

1969

General Pump & Equipment, Inc. was founded July 1969 in Canton, Ohio by Dave Lapp.

1980

Throughout the 1980's the Company continued to expand its services and customer base throughout the Los Angeles, Inland Empire and Orange County areas.

1982

General Pump, along with our parent company, Interpump Group S.r.l., has been the world leader in plunger pump development since 1982.

1985

In 1985, Cat Pumps added two special stainless steel plunger pump models to their line.

1986

Recognizing an industry trend was unfolding before their eyes, in 1986, Hypro jumped onto the ceramic pump bandwagon and introduced their own brand of the first USA-made ceramic plunger pump for pressure washing.

1987

By 1987, the Company had outgrown its Los Angeles facility and moved to its current location in San Dimas, California.

2008

In 2008, General Pump expanded once again, and opened a second facility in Camarillo, California.
