• Electrical - Through knowledge of 12-24 VDC electrical systems and procedures, methods and

techniques to design, install, repair and maintain generators, by-pass pumps, starters, pumps,

valves, motors and gauges.

Requirements for the Electric Power Generation (EPG) Apprentice Technician positions include:

Self-starter with strong work ethic & mechanical aptitude. Completion of diesel school program, electrical diploma, or 2 years equivalent electrical or diesel technician job experience required. Proficient with computers, including Microsoft Office software. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent customer service skills.

Physical requirements must be met for the Electric Power Generation (EPG) Apprentice Technician job, including the ability to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 70 pounds, including bulky objects. This position requires repeated reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending and climbing beside, onto and under a variety of heavy equipment.

Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will receive an accreditation from The Virginia Department of Labor, officially becoming a certified EPG Technician. You'll be an integral part of our customers' success and have the opportunity to work with an array of diverse equipment. Carter's Apprenticeship Program is nationally recognized by the Federal Department of Labor and is fully accredited through the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Our client has been in business for over 30 years and is striving to provide the best power solutions, with the highest level of customer service to their customers.

They are in search of Generator Service Technicians who will be responsible for maintenance and repair of generator sets and other electrical equipment.

In this role, you will perform various types and levels of maintenance and repair on generators and parallel systems ranging from 5-5000kw. Troubleshooting and repair of automatic transfer switches, to include bypass isolation, and closed transition types as well.

Repairs will include performing preventative maintenance service (oil and filters), troubleshooting AC and DC circuits, removing and replacing any and all components as necessary, performing warranty work per manufacturer's guidelines, performing start-up/commissioning on new generators and generator systems.

- Perform diesel or gaseous engine troubleshooting and repair to include but not limited to ignition components, injection systems, valve adjustments and so on

- Perform load bank testing on generators to ensure units are in the proper operating conditions and meet applicable code requirements
- Assist other technicians with large jobs, and troubleshooting complicated issues

In this role, you will:
