Clinically, the counselor will educate and counsel patients and families on various genetic conditions based on their family history and diagnosis. They will prepare for clinics in advance, by reviewing records, and researching appropriate testing options. The counselor will also participate in disclosure of genetic test results and help families complete follow-up recommendations as necessary. The genetic counselor will be supporting The Murray Feingold Coordinated Genetics Service (MFCGS). Genetic counselor preferred to have 3+ years of clinical experience with a minimum of 1-2 years. Experience in pediatrics and general genetics is strongly desired. Clinically, the genetic counselor works in various spaces at the MGH. Remote work and virtual visits are also integrated into the role within the guidelines of the institution. Using patient and family medical histories, laboratory testing, and current research data, you will provide education, counseling, and support to help patients and families understand, adapt, and cope with the impact of genetically inherited conditions.
