Georgia Farm Bureau company history timeline

1958

A major addition to the company came in 1958 with the founding of the Georgia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company.

In 1958, Georgia Farm Bureau established the Georgia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company to offer more options to farmers and rural communities.

1964

In 1964, Farm Record Management services were offered, and the Marketing Association was formed to assist farmers with buying and selling of agricultural products.

1966

The Farm Monitor has a long history, dating back to 1966, and is produced by the state’s largest general farm organization – the Georgia Farm Bureau.

1966 saw the first Georgia Farm Monitor TV broadcast, in cooperation with WMAZ-TV in Macon.

1972

The Young Farmer Program began in 1972, with the purpose of surfacing and developing Farm Bureau leadership.

1978

In 1978, with the show and staff growing, production moves to dedicated facilities in the Georgia Farm Bureau state headquarters building in Macon.

1983

A spin-off show, The Georgia Farmer, begins airing in 1983.

1988

Dedicated on September 14, 1988, the five-story, 171,000 square foot building is home to approximately 500 "home office" employees, in addition to over 600 insurance agents located throughout the state to serve our members.
