GSU used to be a great place to work. The faculty had autonomy. It started going downhill about 10 years ago. (See below)
About 7 years ago, the place went crazy with DEI. I am a 71 year old white male, and I went from being a highly respected member of the faculty to almost being a non-entity. Recently, the College of Law has greatly discriminated against white males. I am a Fulbright Scholar, a former Fulbright Professor, started the IP program, and was awarded the IP Legends Award. I am not a slouch. But owing to the way that I was treated in the last few years, I retired. I do not miss it one bit.
The only benefit was parking. My salary was sub-standard. The school was hiring assistant professors at almost the same salary as I earned, and I was tenured in 1998, and became a full professor in 1999.
I did not like the Administration.
I would go back to the way it used to be. GSU has become over-corporatized.
It was a long time ago. I looked up several of the faculty's experience and what they taught. Most importantly, I was myself at the interviews.
It was very, very low.
The school is more interested in having a quota than anything else.
My students.
I got to sharpen my skills further.
Needed lots more work to do.
The learning opportunity was great.
I enjoy the people and the work we do to better the lives of people with disabilities and their families.
Not much work-life balance.
