POSITION DESCRIPTION Compiles and analyzes records and production reporting. Reviews production and shipping objectives, deadlines, and work orders to determine priorities. Requires sound judgment and decision-making ability, as this job will make inventory adjustments, transfer heats between orders and customer contact, authorize payment of invoices from processors, set up specification sheets and communicate with Sales. This job requires a high school diploma or equivalent with strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Candidate will need to possess proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products, to include Excel and Word. Will also require ability to follow set procedures without deviation and have ability to multi-task. The work requires extensive knowledge, understanding, and use of product and manufacturing terminology, data, and standards and how to relate them properly to new projects. Previous exposure to use of weights, measures and shipping knowledge would be beneficial. A comprehensive knowledge of or experience in inventory control, previous scheduling and MRP. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: * Advise procurement for work in process material for assigned accounts based on product lead time, capacity, and due dates. * Expediting work in process material internally and from processors, checking routings, reviewing orders for accuracy of delivery to meet customer demands. * Printing and sending specifications sheets for processors. * Approval and verification of outside processor invoices for price and weights. * Applying and transferring material to appropriate orders, as necessary. * Compile information for month end reports. * Manage high volumes of works in process orders for numerous Customers with attention to detail in regards to quantity required, processing time needed, special packaging, testing, and shipping requirements to detour conflicts and ensure on time to finished goods is met. Expediting work in process by any appropriate means. * Internal communications within the department, general office, production, metallurgy, and finishing to expedite work in process material by any appropriate means is essential for prioritizing customer orders. * Communicating with outside processors, and customers professionally and with accurate information Coordinate and confirm that expectations are understood to ensure that customer specifications and delivery compliance is obtained. * Produce schedules daily based up production line, capacity, priority and due date. * Forecasting for scheduled work centers with information supported by working hours needed by capacity load well in advance for planning purposes. * Perform miscellaneous duties such as month end reports for processors and accounting. * Reflecting a team mentality within the departments as well as outside, to support Gerdau ethical conduct requirement. JOB DUTIES: * Locates, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical systems and equipment to a component level by using a variety of tools, and measuring and testing instruments. * Work involves the following - installation, repair, and maintenance of a variety of electrical equipment such as transformers, switchboards, controllers, power distribution units, circuit breakers, motors, VFD, heating units, conduit systems, and other electrical equipment and components. * Tests and replaces lead-acid batteries for uninterrupted power systems (UPS) and other equipment. Normal work is on 480 volt or less systems and equipment, occasional closed door switching on arc safe, and metal-clad medium voltages (4.16kv, 34.5kv) equipment. Occasional closed-door switching on high voltage (161kv). BASIC FUNCTION Help ensure quality product by monitoring all phases of production operations for adherence to standards, taking samples for analysis, making physical inspections, and communicating with Production and other Metallurgical personnel to resolve problems. The Lab Technician is responsible for daily quality testing requirements, record keeping, reporting, and equipment maintenance. The incumbent will be accountable for acquisition and preparation of test samples, as well as performing the actual tests and reporting of quality results to the appropriate department. Additionally, the Lab Technician may also be responsible for product inspection. The Lab Technician will be required to review quality data results and compare them to product requirements. The individual is accountable for notifying the routine facilitator or Quality Assurance manager if there are any problems with the data or inspection of the product. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS * Monitor Rolling Mill for surface quality, bar size, length, and temperature. * Observe activities at the Caster, choking, lancing, AC 3 temps, cast speed, and bar counts. * Observe Melt Shop chemistry specification and degas requirements performed correctly. * Record and monitor practices to ensure they are being followed. Participate in failure analysis for solutions and improvements. * Identify and deliver samples for testing to the machine shop, both rolled and cast product. * Post data and observations to a metallurgical report for disposition. Specialized or Technical Knowledge and Skills This position reports to either the Routine Facilitator. This position requires a minimum of two years of steel mill or related experience and a high school diploma. Training for the specific tasks will be provided by the site. An aptitude for working with computers and sensitive technical instruments will be a plus. The incumbent must be able to work in a controlled laboratory environment, and must be able to work independently. Incumbent must be capable of calibrating and standardizing vacuum spectrograph and carbon-sulfur determinator, operating saws, abrasive cut wheel and disk grinder. General knowledge of steel processing, principles of the electric arc furnace operation and basic metallurgical components of high carbon and alloy steel.
