Begun in 1886, Germantown Academy meets Penn Charter in November for a day of athletic competition which culminates in the GA-PC football game.
Both Germantown Academy and Penn Charter are members of the Inter-Academic League, founded in 1887.
The PC-GA Day football series began in 1887 and is the nation's longest continuous high school rivalry.
In December of 1958, one year before the bicentennial of the Academy, the Board of Trustees voted to accept the offer of Robert McLean of 160 acres of rolling meadow and woodland in Fort Washington.
The Germantown Academy went on to survive these dark times in its history and, in 1965, the Academy moved to its current 160 acre Fort Washington location.
Thanks! Some research is still being conducted/cross-checked. (Information prior to 1976 was provided mostly by Doctor Roger B. Saylor, a famed Pennsylvania football historian.
A special Competition Cup, established in 1996, is awarded to the school which wins the most events on GA-PC Day.
As recently as September 2010, the Germantown Academy has continued to grow.
As of 2020, the record is PC 86 wins, GA 37 wins, 11 ties.
