1902

As early as 1902, the production cycle at Gerresheimer Glas had been changed to three shifts.

1904

In 1904, Gerresheimer Glas started the production of wired glass, which became popular in construction as translucent building material for railroad stations and halls.

1907

1907: First contacts with world market leader Owens and the operation of the first Owens glassblowing machine in Europe.

1908

In May 1908 the first Owens machine in Europe started production at Gerresheimer Glas.

1925

By 1925, all glass bottles at Gerresheimer Glas were made by Owens machines.

1932

A New Era of Expansion Begins in 1932

In 1932 Gerresheimer Glas took over Glashütte Achern, another German glass manufacturer which was located near the vineyards of southern Germany.

1940

Another acquisition followed in 1940 when Gerresheimer Glas bought a 50-percent share in Glashütte Budenheim, located near Mainz, another center of German wine country.

1945

Production came to a complete halt at the end of the war, but Gerresheimer Glas started making flat glass and glass containers again at the end of 1945.

1958

By 1958 the Owens machines had been replaced by the new rotating R7-machines and IS-multiple-section-machines.

1959

1959 marked the year when Gerresheimer Glas lost its independence.

1987

1987 Development of tubing-based pharmaceutical glass product business

1991

In 1991, the company acquired the German leader in the specialty glass market—Tettauer Glashüttenwerke AG. Two years later the plastic and carton manufacturing subsidiaries were sold.

2000

Producing the glass is a multistep process and it involves working with temperatures as hot as 2000 degrees Fahrenheit.

2007 Gerresheimer AG is stock exchange listed

2015 Sale of tubing operations to Corning
