Senior ICT + Security Designer
Ghafari job in Grand Rapids, MI
Provide data, telecommunication, fire alarm, security, wireless LAN, acoustic calculations, audio visual systems design for new construction and/or renovation of industrial or commercial structures in conformance to client requirements and applicable codes. Provide the engineering to develop the construction documents for the installation, telecommunication and security networks.
**Essential Job Functions:**
+ Possess / demonstrate the engineering knowledge and understanding to design or analyze electrical systems for the installation, interconnection, and control of electrical and mechanical components using applicable codes including lighting & power distribution systems, low voltage systems (fire alarm systems, telecommunications, data networks, lighting control systems, power monitoring systems, etc.), sizing of equipment, etc.
+ Review and/or establish project scope, electrical budget, design approach, and applicable constraints with the Project Manager or client as appropriate.
+ Knowledge of all aspects of BICSI guidelines and NFPA -72, as they apply to the design.
+ Able to completely design a Public Address System.
+ Able to design audio visual systems.
+ Able to provide threat and security analysis reports for various types of facilities.
+ Able to adhere to project quality, budget, and schedule.
+ Prepare feasibility studies and schematic design packages of lighting, power systems, etc.
+ Perform production and quality monitoring of construction documents per company standards.
+ Communicate and work with all other disciplines to produce coordinated construction documents.
+ Edit or draft project specifications.
+ Develop and mentor less experienced staff.
+ Develop accurate project cost estimates.
+ Conduct field measuring and checking at the construction site.
+ Maintain organized project file containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference materials, etc.
+ Review project submittals (shop drawings) for conformance with contract documents; specify action required for conformance.
+ Perform related duties as assigned.
**Employment Qualifications:**
Required Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree or in engineering or construction technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ RCDD certification required
+ Revit proficiency required
+ Security Certification CPP PSP from ASIS or ICAO
+ 12+ years of related and progressively more responsible experience in electrical engineering field.

+ Maintain project files containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference material, and other items

+ Use available structural computer programs to enhance productivity and verify results with manual checks. Backcheck others work and verify models are being correctly produced.

**Employment Qualifications:**

+ Prepare feasibility studies and schematic design packages of lighting, power systems, etc.
+ Perform production and quality monitoring of construction documents per company standards.
+ Communication and work with all other disciplines to produce coordinated construction documents.
+ Edit and draft project specifications.
+ Develop and mentor less experienced staff.
+ Develop accurate project cost estimates.
+ Conduct field measuring and checking at the project site.
+ Maintain organized project file containing project calculations, schedules, correspondence, appropriate reference materials, etc.
+ Review project submittals (shop drawings) for conformance with contract documents; specify action required for conformance.
+ Respond to RFIs.
+ Perform related duties as assigned.
**Employment Qualifications:**
**Education:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field required
+ LEED accredited professional qualification preferred
**Experience**
+ 10+ years of related experience in power distribution/lighting design
+ Experience with short-circuit analysis, protective device coordination and arc flash hazard software (e.g. SKM, ETAP or EasyPower)
**Certification:**
+ Possess the Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certification from any of the 50 states
**Skills/Competencies:**
+ Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD

**Essential Job Functions:**
