In the late 1980's the curve began to increase so steeply that the global warming theory began to win terrain fast.
In the 1980's, finally, the global annual mean temperature curve started to rise.
In the 1990's scientists started to question the greenhouse effect theory, because of major uncertainties in the data sets and model outcomes.
Interestingly, though, Asia became the largest emitter of CO₂ one year before—in 1993—largely due to rapid economic growth in China.
In 1994, Asia’s gross domestic product became the largest in the world.
From 1998 onwards the terminology on the greenhouse effect started to change as a result of media influences.
While the United States kept its place as the top CO2 emitter until 2005, Asian countries also started to emerge, led by China.
By the year 2007, CO₂ emissions from the developing world exceeded those of industrialized nations.
In 2011, the countries have changed, but the top 10 emitters still contributed 78 percent of global CO₂ emissions.
Atmospheric CO2 levels continued to increase, and by 2018 they had reached 410 ppm.
