In 1883, the Ladies Sewing Society decided the town needed a hospital to serve the miners and ranchers of the area, as well as the town residents.
The first facility, established by the Ladies’ Hospital Aid Association and opened on March 12, 1884, was begun in a small, donated cottage at the Planing Mill Site on 13th Street in Silver City.
In 1885, it relocated to the old courthouse site on Hudson Street, where the United States Forest Service Warehouse is now located, and was renamed the Grant County Charity Hospital.
1918 - Grant County Charity Hospital Moves Location
In 1937, the hospital near Juniper Street and United States 180 was constructed and named the Swift Memorial Hospital.
1957 and prior to - Silver City General Hospital
1959 - Hillcrest General Hospital
1969 - Transferred from Town of Silver City to Grant County Ownership
In 1970 Frank Tatsch, a local contractor, remodeled the facility to add Purchasing, Maintenance and Linen Departments.
In 1975 the Berry Brothers built a new area for Medical Records and a Doctor's Lounge.
On October 26, 1983, the facility was renamed.
