Duties and Responsibilities
Supporting project success by reviewing and processing key documents (submittals, RFIs, drawings, change orders).
Organizing and maintaining records to ensure the team has accurate information at their fingertips.
Assisting with scheduling and progress tracking, helping keep projects on time and on budget.
Contributing to financial health by monitoring costs and preparing progress payment requests.
Participating in project meetings, learning how decisions are made around contract requirements, safety, and quality.
Owning close-out activities and documentation for successful project completion.

Education and Experience
Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field.
Knowledge of A/E/C industry software preferred.
Familiarity with general construction and design preferred.

Licenses and Certifications
A valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record, free from suspensions or restrictions is required.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently inspects the project and may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions, while wearing personal protective equipment. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud. The worker is subject to both environmental conditions due to work activities occurring both inside and outside.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the position is moderately active and the employee is frequently standing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The position also may also be sitting for long periods of time.
Travel Requirements
These positions are project site based in a Construction Trailer. Some positions are office based. That will be clarified, but the assignment is in person and on location.

Reporting Relationship: Interns will report to a EH&S Manager.
Tasks Assigned: You will be learning the environmental health and safety management aspects of the construction project in the field. Your experience will include some or all the following:
* Assist in safety onboarding and safety meeting processes.
* Assist in performing regular job site inspections to identify, document and recommend mitigation of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions and verify correction actions s have been completed.

+ Unites pipes from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas and turns valves to release mixture.

+ Preheats work pieces for the preparation of welding or curving, using torch.
+ Fills holes or corrects mistakes in lead pieces and makes bulges thin and curves in metal work pieces.
+ manually apply filler rod to supply weld metal. May clean or degrease weld joint or workplace, using wire brush, portable grinder, or chemical bath.
+ remove excess weld, defective weld material, slag and spatter, using carbon arc gouge, hand scrapper, grinder or power chipper.

What Do We Require?
You must be:
Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program majoring in Materials Science Engineering
Minimum 3.0 GPA
Willing and able to work on-site at our Reading, PA location.
Applicants MUST be US Citizens or Green Card Holders due to Carpenter's government contracts.

Pay Range
Hourly rates are based on: 1 - Program of study; 2 - Degree type (i.e., Bachelor's); 3 - Progression in degree (i.e., 1st year, 2nd year, etc.). The range for this position is $21.00-$25.00 per hour.
Commuting/Housing Assistance (If Eligible)
Interns who must commute to work from outside the immediate Reading, PA area (over 50 miles one-way), will be paid a one-time lump sum payment of $2,400 (less applicable taxes) as excessive commute allowance. Interns who choose to temporarily relocate from outside the immediate Reading, PA area (moving over 50 miles one-way), will be paid a one-time lump sum payment of $4,800 (less applicable taxes) as a housing allowance. If applicable, this payment would be made during the first payroll cycle, which would be three or four weeks following the internship start date.

Reporting Relationship: Interns will report to a EH&S Manager.
Tasks Assigned: You will be learning the environmental health and safety management aspects of the construction project in the field. Your experience will include some or all the following:
* Assist in safety onboarding and safety meeting processes.
* Assist in performing regular job site inspections to identify, document and recommend mitigation of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions and verify correction actions s have been completed.
* Assist in evaluating various planning/permits such as: Hot Work, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Excavation, Steel Erection, Energized Work, Pre-cast Tilt-Up as examples for effective and appropriate mitigation techniques.
* Assist in incident investigations to include interviews, data compilation, photographs and completing proper documentation.
Working Conditions
* Work is conducted in both indoor office settings, and outdoor constructions jobsite settings requiring sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Uses Gas-Metal Arc, Flux-Cored Arc, Gas-Tungsten Arc, Submerged Arc or Shielded Metal Arc welding processes.
+ Unites pipes from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas and turns valves to release mixture.

+ Preheats work pieces for the preparation of welding or curving, using torch.
+ Fills holes or corrects mistakes in lead pieces and makes bulges thin and curves in metal work pieces.
+ manually apply filler rod to supply weld metal. May clean or degrease weld joint or workplace, using wire brush, portable grinder, or chemical bath.
+ remove excess weld, defective weld material, slag and spatter, using carbon arc gouge, hand scrapper, grinder or power chipper.
+ Climbs up ladders or works on scaffolds to take apart textures.
+ In order to protect the torch chooses place of weld based on type, thickness, area, and expected temperature of metal.
