The purpose of the Robotic Weld Operator position is to manufacture quality irrigation products from fabricated metal component parts by performing acceptable robotic welding processes.
The Robotic Welding Operator category will consist of those individuals who are assigned to the company's robotic welding centers. Robotic Welding Operator must be able to learn and demonstrate proper welding skills; learn and demonstrate setups on all robotic equipment; demonstrate a sustained ability to learn and perform robotic programming and programming logic tasks; demonstrate the ability to produce standard quality component parts utilizing all robotic welding equipment in the center; demonstrate the ability to follow specific instructions and procedures in the operation of sophisticated robotic equipment; and demonstrate and comply with all recommended safe practices within the robotic center.
Essential Functions
Must be able to demonstrate the skills, knowledge and proficiency to run sophisticated robotic welding equipment and produce standard quality irrigation component parts.
Must be able to demonstrate wire welding skill and proficiency to preassemble components prior to robotic welding and must be able to final weld the product off the robot when necessary.
Must be able to demonstrate the ability to learn difficult programming logic and techniques i.e. the XRC controller; the Teach Pendant; Editing; Manipulator Coordinates; Special Run Operations; etc.
Must be able to use hand and power tools correctly.
Must be able to run a forklift and secure a forklift license if required.
Must be familiar and cognizant of safety guidelines throughout the company. Must maintain a high standard and protocol for safety in and around the automated robotic cell at all times. Ensures that safety features of this equipment are completely functional at all times and has the authority to stop production within the cell if equipment or human safeguards have been breached or compromised.
Must maintain a good attendance and punctuality record.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints; technical and service bulletins; product specifications; and other standard operating procedures.
Must be able to use and understand various specialized measuring tools and equipment unique to the job i.e. tape measures; levels; and degree finder.
Must have good communication and interpersonal skills, as they will interact with other departments, professional staff and management of the company.
Must be able to work with limited supervision and show/demonstrate initiative, tact, good judgement and sound reasoning.
Must be able to handle the physical requirements of the position.
Describe Critical Skills, Experience, Training, Education, or Licenses Required
Requires demonstrated wire welding skills and the ability to perform welding tasks efficiently. Prior robotic welding experience and welding certifications are a plus.
Requires the ability to accurately read detailed blueprints, schematics, operations/technical manuals and work orders.
Machines, Tools, Equipment and Personal Protective Equipment Used
Welders will be required to use welding machines/equipment; rotating equipment; plasma cutting and oxyacetylene cutting torches; basic fabrication equipment; and ordinary hand or power tools. Welding positions require the use of various welding PPE clothing; welding helmets; safety glasses with side shields; protective footwear; and hearing protection.
