After-School Literacy Teacher
The After School Literacy Teachers primary responsibility is to implement academic support through Differentiated Literacy Instruction (DLI) for K-5 students. In this role, you will be at the forefront of our mission to close the literacy gap among young learners. Differentiated Literacy Instruction (DLI) is a key component of our academic support program, designed to meet the diverse needs of our students by providing tailored reading interventions.
This role is crucial in helping students develop their reading skills by providing personalized, data-driven instruction tailored to meet each students unique needs. Using the Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) and MAZE assessments, you will identify students who are struggling with reading fluency and comprehension. These assessments will allow you to pinpoint the specific areas where students need additional support.
You will then develop and implement targeted intervention plans that address these needs, focusing on improving fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and other essential literacy skills. Your instruction will be dynamic and adaptable, ensuring that each student progresses according to their ability and receives the support necessary to thrive academically.
As the After School Literacy Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in monitoring and documenting student progress. This involves assessing students regularly and maintaining detailed records that track their development over time. These records will be essential for adjusting instructional strategies and for communicating with other educators, program staff, and parents about each student's progress.
Key Responsibilities
Implement Differentiated Literacy Instruction (DLI):
Deliver targeted reading instruction to K-5 students based on their individual assessment results.
Utilize the Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) and MAZE assessments to identify students' strengths and areas for improvement.
Develop and execute customized intervention plans for students who need additional support in reading fluency and comprehension.
Administer and Interpret Assessments:
Conduct ORF and MAZE assessments according to the programs schedule.
Accurately analyze assessment data to track student progress and inform instructional practices.
Adjust instructional strategies based on ongoing assessment results to ensure student growth.
Classroom Management and Engagement:
Create a positive and supportive learning environment that fosters students' confidence and love for reading.
Manage classroom behavior effectively to ensure a productive learning atmosphere.
Engage students with a variety of instructional strategies that cater to different learning styles.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of student assessments, progress, and intervention plans.
Regularly update student profiles in Trust Central to reflect assessment results and instructional adjustments.
Communicate regularly with program staff, parents, and guardians about student progress and any concerns.
Professional Development:
Complete mandatory trainings in Differentiated Literacy Instruction (DLI) Basics, Oral Reading Fluency (ORF), and MAZE.
Stay informed about best practices in literacy instruction and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Education, Literacy, or a related field, or completed atleast one RED course (i.e RED 3313, RED4100, etc)
Valid teaching certification in the state of Florida, preferred
Experience working with elementary school students, particularly in literacy instruction.
Strong knowledge of Differentiated Literacy Instruction (DLI) and experience with ORF and MAZE assessments preferred
Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in an after-school program setting.
Experience working with diverse student populations, including students with disabilities.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
Commitment: at least 4 hours per week

The Summer Program Facilitator is responsible for implementing our after school activities including Life Skills, Homework support, Snack, outdoor games and other activities as they are added. Activities and discussions are designed to increase knowledge, strengthen self-confidence, cultivate communication and foster trusting, productive relationships among students and between students and staff.

Duties
During the course of their careers, Secret Service Police carry out assignments in protection. Duties include:

The Deputy Sheriff Reserve position is a part time law enforcement position.
The Broward Sheriff's Office is now offering condensed testing for out of area candidates. Human Resources will schedule and coordinate the selection process within a short time frame to minimize travel. Applicants are responsible for all travel expenses.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum age of 19 years.
United States Citizen at time of application (F.S.S.943.13(2)).
High school diploma or equivalent. An evaluation of foreign high school diploma may be required.
Must not have been convicted of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement as an adult. All other arrests and convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. All candidates must have good moral character as determined by a background investigation (F.S.S. 943.13). If ever arrested, candidates must submit official court documents and police reports with the application. A written statement explaining the arrest and the outcome must also be attached to the application for review. Official court documents can be obtained from the Clerk of the Court in the county in which the incident occurred. Documents must be submitted with your application.
Must successfully pass the SWIMMING and BASIC MOTOR SKILLS tests prior to submitting an application. Results for all required tests must be attached to the online application.
Candidates must be Law Enforcement Certified in the state of Florida at the time of application. FDLE Certification must be attached to the online application.
If claiming Veteran's Preference, candidates must attach a DD214 Member 4 form to the online application.
Must possess and maintain throughout employment, a valid Florida driver license without any restrictions affecting job performance. Driver license must show current address. All candidates must submit with the application, a Certified Department of Motor Vehicles "entire" driving history.
Florida driving histories can be obtained at any courthouse in Broward County. Three (3) year, seven (7) year, and online Florida driving history records will not be accepted.
If you have possessed a driver's license in any other state in the past ten (10) years you will need to submit an "entire" driving history from that state. For non-Florida driving histories, please contact that state's division of motor vehicles.
The search date for all driving histories must be within one month of the date the application for employment is received by the Bureau of Human Resources.

Compliance with minimum training and standards of an accredited certification institution as set forth by the recommended FDLE guidelines and CJSTC. Tasks include a criticality component, in responding to crime scenes or other critical incidents, whereby incumbents are required to maintain physical abilities consistent with CJSTC standards in order to perform essential duties as outlined herein on an as needed basis. Emphasis does not consider percentage (%) of time allocated to performing essential functions. Rather incumbents maintain CJSTC physical standards in order to perform essential functions at any point during compensatory time regardless of allocated percentage (%) of time to any one duty.
Depending on functional area of assignment, the following physical requirements may apply:
Tasks involve the intermittent performance of extremely physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, running, climbing, and that may involve the dragging, pushing, and/or pulling of extremely heavy objects, such as in the event of chasing and subduing a suspect resisting arrest.
Tasks may involve standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Some tasks are performed with potential for intermittent exposure to disagreeable elements including, but not limited to, heat, humidity, inclement weather, loud noise, toxic/chemical agents, electrical currents, pathogens, violent behavior, weapons, explosives, animals. Tasks may include regular exposure to traffic conditions, where heightened awareness to surroundings and observance of established safety precautions is essential in avoidance of injury or accidents. Standard body gear and equipment applies in the preservation of life and property, as does special equipment based on assignment including, but not limited to, various types of body armor and safety gear.
