GMX is an independent oil and gas company. At the time of their organization in 1998, they acquired from an unrelated third party, for $6.0 million, producing and undeveloped properties located primarily in east Texas and northwestern Louisiana, Kansas and southeastern New Mexico. When they acquired them, the properties consisted of 71.1 net producing wells, 20,829 net developed and 317 net undeveloped acres. At the acquisition date, the properties had estimated proved developed producing reserves of 5 Bcfe. These properties were acquired out of a bankruptcy reorganization of a small, privately held company. They believe the properties had not been developed to their full potential as a result of the financial condition and lack of technical geological expertise of the prior owner. However, there was substantial high quality geological and engineering data available for the properties, waiting to be evaluated.
