This critical leadership role will be instrumental in optimizing the performance, efficiency, and productivity of our engineering and technology operations. The Technology COO will drive strategic initiatives to enhance overall technological output, ensure disciplined financial management of resources and productivity, and champion data-driven decision-making to align technology efforts directly with business value. This role requires an individual with a strong grip on metrics, exceptional visualization capabilities, and proven experience in capacity planning and vendor cost management. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Oversight & Performance Management: Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures to significantly enhance productivity, performance, and efficiency across all technology teams. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks for engineering performance, including DORA metrics (Deployment Frequency, Change Lead Time, Change Failure Percentage, Failed Deployment Recovery Time), cycle time, and quality of deliverables, to assess operational health and identify areas for improvement. Drive a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging data and insights to streamline workflows and optimize engineering processes. Business Intelligence & Data-Driven Decision Making: Lead the adoption and application of business intelligence tools and practices within technology operations to provide real-time, actionable insights into engineering performance, resource utilization, and project status. Develop robust reporting and visualization frameworks that translate complex technical metrics into clear, concise, and impactful information for senior leadership and business stakeholders, enabling informed strategic decisions. Utilize AI and advanced analytics to identify trends, predict potential issues, and drive proactive optimizations across technology functions. Resource & Capacity Planning: Oversee comprehensive capacity planning initiatives to anticipate future resource allocation needs, balance demand with available resources, and ensure optimal performance and scalability of technology infrastructure and teams. Implement effective workforce planning strategies, including hiring, organizational design, and training, to support the evolving demands of technology operations. Financial & Vendor Management: Manage technology operational budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness, maximizing resource utilization, and driving cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or innovation. Lead vendor management efforts, including contract negotiations, performance monitoring, and relationship management with technology partners and suppliers, to ensure favorable terms and optimal value. Implement robust cost tracking and reporting mechanisms to provide transparency into expenses and identify opportunities for optimization. Prioritization & Business Value Alignment: Establish and manage prioritization frameworks that align technology initiatives with overarching business goals, customer value, and strategic objectives. Work closely with business leaders and product teams to ensure technology roadmaps deliver maximum business value, effectively balancing technical feasibility with strategic impact. Qualifications: Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of experience in technology operations, engineering management, or a similar role within a large, complex organization, preferably in the financial services industry. Experience defining and driving business strategy and execution through concrete programs and strong leadership Proven track record of driving significant improvements in engineering efficiency, productivity, and performance at scale. Extensive experience with Business Intelligence tools, data visualization platforms, and advanced analytics for operational insights. Demonstrated expertise in capacity planning, resource allocation, and large-scale vendor management. Skills: Exceptional analytical skills with a strong ability to define, track, and interpret key metrics across a broad range of technology functions. Mastery of operational excellence principles, process optimization, and project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Lean). Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts and their business impact to diverse audiences. Solid understanding of financial management, budgeting, and cost control within a technology context. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field. An MBA or advanced degree is highly preferred.
