You'd be responsible for:

+ Performing preventative maintenance and repairs on a variety of small engines- oil changes, filters, etc.

+ Maintaining accurate information and reports of services

+ Performing minor maintenance and repairs on hydraulic and electric components of equipment

+ Performing various tasks associated with maintaining properly performing cutting units, including adjusting heights, minor reel adjustments

+ Regular equipment relocation via truck and trailer within region

+ Ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently and safely at all times

And while not mandatory, it would be great if you also have:

+ Strong work ethic

+ Effective oral and written communication skills

+ Ability to prioritize and multi-task and work in fast paced environment

+ Valid Driver's License

+ Physical demands are required for this position and might include, but are not limited to:

+ Regular Heavy lifting up to 50 pounds

+ Noise level in work environment is usually moderate

+ Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions including sun, rain, cold

+ Repetitive movement- standing, walking, twisting, turning, bending squatting, stooping, talking, writing, and typing

**What will I be doing?**

As a Golf Mechanic, under supervision, assist in the repair and maintenance of motorized equipment; independently do mechanical repair and maintenance work\.

+ Maintain a comprehensive preventative maintenance program, repair broken or failing equipment, keep record of parts and labor, order parts and supply, assist Head Mechanic in all areas\.
+ Responsible for daily check in of all Golf Course equipment as well as daily maintenance of wash rack system\. Maintenance of all small tools like edgers, blowers, flymowers and pushmowers\.
+ Assist in daily set up of Golf Course as needed which includes mowing Greens, Tees, Fairways and Approaches\.
+ Assist the mechanic or does work overhauling and repairing automotive and other gasoline and diesel powered equipment\.
+ Repair and adjusts the engines and cutting mechanisms of a wide variety of light and heavy mowing equipment\.
+ Perform periodic backlapping and sharpening of mower cutting units to ensure a sharp, clean cut at all times\.
+ Inspect equipment for operating deficiencies and makes routine adjustments where necessary\.
+ Perform as many of the mechanics duties as possible when the mechanic is not present\.

In this role, you will be responsible for the shop condition, and safe mechanical condition of all mowers, utility vehicles, and mechanical equipment. Work closely with the Equipment Manager / Golf Course Superintendent to plan and coordinate repairs, adjustments, and maintenance of all equipment to ensure it's available for daily use on the golf course.

The ideal candidate will be a team player who strives for excellence with a great attitude and strong work ethic. At least 5 years of well-rounded experience as head golf course mechanic, assistant golf course mechanic, and/or related mechanical experience and skilled in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools, and the making of various types of mechanical repairs are required.

JOB DETAILS

Responsibilities:

• Prepare requisitions based on inventory control and budget. Review with the Equipment Manager, and the Golf Course Superintendent. Maintain a budget with parts purchases and tool purchases.
• Prioritize and assign equipment repairs for other mechanics.
• Ensure all records are updated to Desert Mountain standards, both electronic and paper.
• Work with Golf Course Superintendent to schedule Mechanics based on golf course needs.
• Ensure OSHA requirements are met in recycling and disposal of used material, including batteries and hazardous materials.
• Troubleshoot, inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment and equipment systems. This includes, but is not limited to, operator and equipment safety switch operation, engine tune-ups, carburetor adjustments, and tire repair.
• Ensure safe and proper operation of hydraulic, brake, fuel, steering, electrical, and cooling systems.
• Repair engine/drive train assemblies, starters, cutting units, roller bearing and seals, carburetors, fuel pumps, hydraulic motors, and hoses. Install batteries, tires, lights, and glass.
• Adjust, sharpen, and reel mowers to ensure proper reel to bed knife adjustment and proper height-of-cut on all cutting units.
• Perform occasional welding, machining, and painting.
• Follow planned maintenance procedures and record keeping.
• Maintain parts inventory necessary to effect equipment repairs.
• Train, educate and mentor Mechanic I and Mechanic II employees.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
