What You'll Do: Pre-Construction & Project Management • Support Superintendents in all phases-from pre-construction through closeout • Assist with schedule development and updating using MS Project • Help manage subcontractor bids, prequalifications, and scopes • Coordinate permits and compliance with bond and insurance requirements • Attend pre-construction meetings and support jobsite setup activities • Support document reviews, shop drawing approvals, and specification compliance Project Operations • Track and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and pay applications • Participate in regular site visits to ensure quality, safety, and accuracy • Maintain project documentation using construction management software • Help manage the material delivery schedule and submittal approval timelines • Assist with project closeout, punch list coordination, and warranty documentation Client + Team Collaboration • Attend weekly owner and subcontractor meetings-take minutes and follow up on action items • Communicate proactively with field teams, clients, and vendors • Build positive relationships with project stakeholders through professionalism and trust • Act as a problem-solver alongside PMs, Superintendents, and Engineers What We're Looking For: • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) • 2-4 years of experience in commercial/industrial construction • Familiarity with project scheduling and construction documentation • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with CMiC or Viewpoint a plus • Strong organizational and communication skills • A detail-oriented mindset and collaborative spirit You'll Be Able To: • Lift and move objects up to 50 lbs. • Navigate construction sites with rough terrain walking long distances • Work outdoors in varying weather and noisy environments • Sit or work at a computer for extended periods • Perform physical tasks such as standing, squatting, kneeling and driving • Communicate clearly with team members and external partners to exchange accurate information What We Offer: • Competitive salary and bonus eligibility • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) • Full benefits package (health, dental, vision, and more) • Career advancement opportunities and continuous learning support • Paid time off and holidays • A culture of respect, recognition, and results Ready to take the next step in your construction career? The Role We Want You For As an Assistant Superintendent, you will be based on the jobsite, and will be responsible for field operations and onsite construction management of design-build construction projects, specifically quality control for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection, construction, start up, and testing on highly complex projects nationwide. The Assistant Superintendent will have input in the planning and oversight of the job including scheduling of manpower, obtaining tools and materials needed, filing permits and other documents, and advising on budget expenditures. The Assistant Superintendent will also provide on-site supervision of the daily workload, job site safety, receiving and storing of tools and supplies, and the reporting of all of these aspects to the Project Manager and Project Superintendent. Additionally, the Assistant Superintendent is expected to work diligently to educate themselves with Clayco on site Superintendent and Operations Manager duties to take the next step to becoming a Superintendent. The Specifics of the Role Coordinate with preconstruction, design, engineering, procurement, operations, safety, quality, and all other project site management team members to assure that the there is always adequate project resources. Ability to supervise construction employees and subcontractors to accomplish work within budget and schedule constraints. Strong project safety record and commitment to safety and quality. Strong work ethic and willingness to travel or relocate to jobsite. Creative and results-oriented with a sense of urgency. Requirements B.S. in Construction Management or Engineering or equivalent trade experience with progression to management levels. 0-5 years of experience in highly technical commercial/industrial construction management, on projects of 50+ million, ideally with design-build experience. Ability to supervise construction employees and subcontractors to accomplish work within budget and schedule constraints. Strong project safety record and commitment to safety and quality. Strong work ethic and willingness to travel or relocate to jobsite. Creative and results-oriented with a sense of urgency. Ability to walk unlevel terrain on the job sites several times a day, scale scaffolding and temporary stairs measuring many stories in height. Ability to lift objects at least 60lbs.
