TITLE: INTERNSHIP AND CAREER COORDINATOR / COACH BARCLAYS PROGRAMS REPORTS TO: SENIOR PROGRAM MANAGER, REBOUND, GOAL-E Program Manager HOURS: 35 Hours/Week; Exempt SALARY: $50,000-$55,000/Year JOB SUMMARY: Barclays Programs Rebound Elevate and Goal-E are job readiness programs that incorporate various sports to engage participants including Basketball, Soccer and Tennis. The programs serve young adults, who are disconnected, justice involved, overage and/or under-credited. In close collaboration with other program staff, the Internship Career Coordinator provides job readiness and career exploration workshops, as well as work one on one with youth. The Rebound Elevate program uses basketball as a vehicle for engagement, but also as avenues for learning job readiness skills such as teamwork, conflict resolution and taking direction from a coach/supervisor. Rebound Elevate is centered around exploring careers in sports. Goal-E (Goal Employment) is a career readiness program utilizing Soccer as a focal point to explore careers, employment, education and vocational options for participants. As the Soccer Coach for Goal-E, this role is responsible for coordinating and facilitating Soccer and sports related skills and drills to engage participants.
MAJOR DUTIES:
* Facilitate career exploration, work readiness and financial literacy workshops for program participants.
* Lead work readiness workshops utilizing virtual platforms as needed, specifically Zoom Video Conferencing.
* Provide individual 1 on 1 job and career counseling to young adults centered on career mapping and goal setting.
* Support participants growth by providing continuous feedback and resources to meet individual needs.
* Assist the Basketball Coach in utilizing basketball to teach life and job skills (i.e., teamwork and conflict resolution).
* Responsible for recruitment and enrollment of youth to the program with Sr. Program Manager and Basketball Coach.
* Build Partnerships via community canvasing, tabling events, and facilitation of presentations.
* Assist youth in preparing for and securing employment opportunities.
* Monitor and provide support to participants once they have gained employment.
* Provide alumni outreach and support including career counseling, referrals, and skill development.
* Provide referrals to internal and external partners including housing, mental health counseling, educational and vocational programs, and other community resources.
* Perform statistical, narrative, and record keeping duties as required, including monthly and quarterly reports.
* Utilize technology daily to execute job functions including computers, tablets and phones to perform administrative tasks, data entry, virtual workshop facilitation, word processing, email correspondence, text messaging, social media marketing and internet navigation/research.
* Respond to needs of participants during programming in workshops, sports activities and special events.
* Coordinate, support and implement special program events and activities including end of cohort celebrations.
* Coach soccer training/match related sessions 2-3 times a week.
* Develop a soccer curriculum that reflects the principles of workforce readiness used by the Goal-E Internship Career Coordinator.
* Organize, Coordinate and run annual soccer tournaments and sporting events.
* Assist with Program Recruitment and Marketing
* Attend and participate in staff meetings and funder events.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Associate degree or 2+ years of experience developing employment opportunities for youth and/or young adults preferred.
* Experience working with older youth ages 15-24 who may be disengaged and/or justice involved youth preferred.
* Strong group facilitation or teaching skills required.
* Ability to work with diverse staff and participants and network with diverse employer constituents.
* Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
* Must be able to travel across NYC.
* Excellent verbal and written communication a strongly preferred.
* Must be able to engage young people and set structure and limits in a group setting
* Knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice a plus
* Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based, and/or youth development perspective.
* NSCAA or USSF soccer license a plus.

The Outreach Coordinator is a full-time individual that identifies, recruits and retains youth who are disconnected from productive programs and/or have poor academic outcomes. This person will have the skills and personality to forge relationships with youth who are chronically absent or have dropped out of school and persuade them to engage in school and Beacon programming. This individual will have the experience, skills, and personal qualities - including language, cultural, and neighborhood competence - to function as a mentor and resource for the youth when they enroll in the Beacon program. This individual will also have the ability to outreach, build and deepen connections with the surrounding community.
Specific Responsibilities:
Attend Student Support Team meetings and work with the School Leadership to target youth who are chronically absent or late to school
Work with local partners such as the NYPD Community Affairs Officer to identify youth and engage them into the pro-social activities of the program
Facilitate Leadership Groups including Graham's Bengals, peer leadership, civic engagement and service learning groups which has successfully supported disconnected youth community
Collaborate with instructors and group leaders on civic engagement projects
Convene quarterly Youth Roundtables to solicit feedback on the program, plan activities or services, and present concerns and suggestions to Graham's Executive Level Leadership, Beacon Leadership and the School's Leadership
Serve as the transitional bridge for disconnected youth and to provide hands on instruction and guidance and seen as a fully integrated member of the Beacon Team
Attend all required Beacon staff development trainings. Minimum 30 hours a year

Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalency with a minimum of five years of instructional experience with youth or adults in a structured environment.

About Preparing Youth for Adulthood Program (PYA): SLAM
The Youth Development Housing Specialist is responsible for assisting youth apply and secure stable housing in partnership with ACS, case planning and the SLAM team. This includes integrated programming of Youth Development services through permanency programming, community living and life skills, medical, mental health, vocational and educational services. The Youth Development Housing Specialist will more specifically monitor and track the housing application process and advocate for all Graham youth to ensure appropriate housing as part of their living wage career path and PYA goals.
About the Position
The Youth Development Housing Specialist supports youth 17.5 -21 plus eligible for housing apply and secure stable housing, as they work towards a living wage career and Preparing Youth for Adulthood (PYA) goals.
Duties & Responsibilities (but not limited to):
Works with youth in partnership with SLAM and case planning team to provide counseling through the lens of youth development in the areas of housing, workforce development, life skills, mentoring, and leadership development.
Explore options, apply to and secure NYCHA, Supportive housing, Section 8 vouchers and other housing opportunities for eligible youth ages 17.5 to 21 plus years old
Owns the process for first month's rent and security deposit for each obtained apartment. Schedules and coordinates furniture shopping with each young person as they obtain their apartments.
Support youth around addressing rental-arrears including exploring one-shot deals and other community, state, and city resources
Collect, document and track housing data on a monthly basis in Care4 for all youth 17.5 to 21 plus years of age that are housing eligible
Complete the Preparing for Adulthood Discharge and PYA Checklist and share it with the case planning team
Provides Case planning, SLAM, Mental Health, and other stakeholders with progress report on a youth's housing status and process
Takes lead and builds relationships with city, state and federal government agencies to resolve issues and ensure adolescents successful navigation of governmental systems (such as Administration for Children's Services, Department of Education, Office of Children & Family Services, etcetera)
Establishes partnership with key individuals in housing departments at ACS to ensure a collaborative relationship that supports each youth.
Collaborate with case planning to ensure the agency is in compliance with regulatory bodies including the New York Administration for Children's Services (ACS)
Attends FTC, ACS housing Academy, Fair Futures Learning Communities meetings, and other training related to housing.
Organizes and conduct housing workshops for youth and community partners related to the housing process, preparing for housing, and next steps after housing are acquired
Travel to Graham sites is required
Assist youth in the purchase of all items for their apartment.
Housing Specialization:
Ability to negotiate & advocate for housing services for foster care youth.

Keep records of all children placed and all children photo listed.
Attend Adoption/ KinGap Conferences and Red Flags in order to work on the barriers in order to reach permanency.
Write Affidavits to the courts when requested.
Maintain constant communication with foster parents and case planning team on the status of both adoptions and KinGaps.
Provide orientation of the Adoption Department and conduct lunch and learns/trainings to case planning staff.
Conduct field work to meet with foster/adoptive parents in order to obtain documentation needed to completed packages
Attend appointments with notary public while exam hasn t been taken
Responsible for the completion of KinGap applications and ensuring that it is submitted to ACS on a timely manner after receiving referral from case planning team.
Obtaining all of the documentation required to submit a KinGap application.
Prepare and maintain closed adoption files and tracking
Address and refer appropriate post adoption referrals as needed
Perform other duties as assigned.
