Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and capable Advanced Practice Provider to join our practice in Avon, Indiana. This APP will streamline the patient experience and flow for patients as an integral member of the GCBS team. This APP will provide collaborative medical care and treatment with two adult neurosurgeons. This APP will have the opportunity to capitalize on his/her clinical expertise in the areas of office spine triage to appropriately assess, diagnose, and treat patients. In addition, this APP will also have the opportunity for cross training in the operating room. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, motivated, high functioning, and seeking a role where they can make a meaningful impact and contribution to patients needing neurosurgical care. This is a full-time position working Monday-Friday.

Job Duties
At Goodman Campbell, we function as a team.
Communication and collaborative planning are vital for smooth day-to-day operations.
Proactively reviewing clinic schedules and communicating with other team members such as the neurosurgeon, fellow APPs, MAAs, and other staff.
Assessing and triaging new referrals for clinic.
Triaging patient phone calls and providing treatment plans and counseling.
Ensuring patients are seen in a timely fashion.
Diagnosing and developing treatment plans for patients.
Ordering imaging, injections, and referral to the Neurosurgeon when needed.
Completing clinic notes before the end of the day to ensure seamless care.
Providing assistance and guidance to central scheduling and the MAA for clinical matters.
Authorize and discuss prescription refills.
Assess and triage second opinion medical records documentation.
Assist in triaging patient phone calls for image review, collaborating with the neurosurgeon for concerns that are time-sensitive.
Assist in completing peer to peer reviews with insurance companies for patient imaging, prior authorization for treatment plans, and medication needs.
Provide one on one communication with patients and/or families to deliver education and treatment plans regarding medical diagnoses.
Assist in preparing a patient for potential surgery, recognizing the preferences of the Neurosurgeon.
Attend spine conference to engage in ongoing professional development.
Collaborate with interventional pain management team within GCBS on patients when appropriate.
Acting as first assistant to the neurosurgeon in the operating room.
Assist in calling patients before and after surgery to provide education on OR- preop assessment, post op expectations, home care etc

Ordering and Interpretation of diagnostic studies to assess patient problems and health care needs.
First assist in the operating room without continual prompting to:
Operate equipment correctly
Anticipate needs of the surgeon and case
Recognize individual surgeon preference
Assist in patient preparation prior to surgery
Suture proficiently
Apply surgical dressings
Provides continuing medical care in the hospital settings for hospitalized patients in conjunction with the collaborating physician.
Prescribes, recommends, and/or employs medical treatment in accordance with approved policies and with attention to efficacy and safety.
Responsible for assessing various types of pumps and shunts, refilling pumps when needed in the clinic, and altering settings when necessary.
Makes patient care decisions based on an assessment of the individual's complaints and according to the collaborative agreement. Evaluates patient's response to health care provided and the effectiveness of care.
Counsels patients and/or families regarding medical processes, management of the disease process, and the proposed treatment plan.
Maintains appropriate records detailing the patient's treatment plans and outcomes. Initiates timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds scope of practice and/or expertise.
Completes all documentation of clinic visits the same day the patient is seen in the office.
Develops an ongoing plan for healthcare with an emphasis on prevention and self-care with the patient and family when appropriate.
Assists with clinic procedures as delegated by the physician.
Performs peer-to-peer reviews when necessary for insurance approval.
Conducts timely follow-up, prioritizing patient phone calls that require advanced clinical judgement and/or are of a complex nature.
Regularly communicates with other office staff to ensure patient needs are met.
Complies with HIPAA to maintain patient confidentiality.

Participate in a rotating Sunday on call schedule (8 a.m. Sunday to 8 a.m. Monday). Schedulers will also take turns covering on-call shifts on holidays. One scheduler should not do more than 2 holidays per year.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:

Job Duties
Detailed maintenance of accurate incoming referral documentation.
Review incoming faxes for completeness and file appropriately according to content
Application of knowledge and judgement based on urgency
Obtain missing items from referral source (physician office, patient, etc.)
Manage and track incomplete faxes on a daily basis
Problem solving skills
Deliver a high level of customer service while answering all incoming new patient appointment calls from referral sources and patients.
Schedule new patient appointments
Schedule an appointment with the appropriate provider based on protocols and patient or referral source preference/request
Obtain patient information and register in electronic health record (NextGen)
Inform the patient of items or information needed for the visit
Generate and send the required paperwork to the patient before the visit
Notify referral source of appointment scheduled
Answer non-medical questions as needed
Monitor new patient medical records.
File records based on the appointment date, provider, and location.
Collaborate with all necessary GCBS team members respectfully to ensure efficient workflow of scheduling.
