    COMPASS Rape Crisis Center is looking for an exceptional person to provide support and advocacy to those affected by sexual violence. This individual would provide advocacy services via the crisis hotline, area hospitals, and law enforcement agencies. COMPASS, an affiliate of Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio, provides services to all survivors of rape and sexual abuse and their loved ones in Carroll, Tuscarawas, and Stark Counties. Their programs include crisis intervention, advocacy, education, and prevention. Our Advocates: Cover on-call shifts on the 24-hour hotline (after hours). Provide advocacy and accompaniment for the victim and co-victims (parents, custodians, legal guardians, and spouses) at local emergency and law enforcement departments in Stark, Tuscarawas, and Carroll Counties. Respond promptly to survivors requesting advocacy at medical centers and/or law enforcement agencies. Must maintain advocacy privileges at all partner medical centers and/or law enforcement agencies. Complete all necessary documentation and reporting forms as required by the agency and funding sources. Ensure compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and practices, as well as safety and security regulations, and maintain client confidentiality for the individuals we assist. Our ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about the effects of sexual violence on the victim, the family, and the community. They will carry on our mission to promote the healing of individuals impacted by sexual violence and to create social change. This individual will also support and carry out our vision of a community where all people can live free of sexual violence. Basic Requirements of Advocates: Bachelor's/Associate Degree in social work, human services, or related field, OR- high school diploma with experience working with crime victims preferred. Ability to work with moderate supervision and to perform physical requirements of the position, including but not limited to inside sedentary work with occasional standing during hospital accompaniment. Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance, and regularly provide proof of coverage. Completion of COMPASS Crisis Intervention training and required training for Ohio's rape crisis centers will be required if not already completed. This is a part-time, as-needed position. Orients new clients to the program and prepares HMIS case records to facilitate case management; records daily statistics. Over sees meal times; oversees showers times, assigns bed numbers; distributes towels, linens and personal hygiene it; secures and distributes client medications as required. Administers client sexual offender checks, Breathalyzer testing, and drug testing of clients as needed. Receives, receipts, and processes money order payments for rent and updates intake cards as needed; obtains client's signature on necessary forms which includes house rules and regulations; prepares, tallies, and balances money orders with receipts; drops the payments daily into the drop box. Inputs client information into HMIS accurately and in accordance with established HMIS and ESG requirements and updates client files as needed; obtains client's signature on forms as well as house rules and regulations. Ensures clients comply with house rules; checks client's baggage for drugs, alcohol, weapons and pornography; records incidents and notifies supervisor of any special circumstances or unusual problems; ensures security of facility and clients; arms and disarms alarms in accordance with lodge policy; locks and secures area inappropriate for client entry. Helps refer clients to Ann's place for counselling. Conducts routine checks of the facilities to ensure that all doors are locked and that nothing is amiss; locks doors to ensure security of the facilities. Program Responsibilities (15%) Creates and leads celebrate recovery programs which is a recovery program based on Biblical principles, Christian fellowship, and the celebrations of God's healing power to be conducted at the corps one evening per week in coordination with the corps officers. Organizes and, when needed, connects with capable experienced volunteers to led small step groups. Networks with rehabilitation centers, preferably Houston Harbor Light and ARC and others, as the need arises. Encourages Celebrate Recovery participants to attend other Celebrate Recovery meetings though the week. Helps to recruit the appropriate type of volunteer drivers to transport clients to community held CR meetings. Other Responsibilities: Belongs to the corps leadership team, along with at least the corps officers, office manager, and social service manager. Refers shelter clients to Ann Place agency and follows up with Ann Place agency to make sure clients are attending meetings. Coordinates HMIS training with staff and the Homeless Coalition.
