The Excel Center - Northern Indiana is a high-quality, free, public high school for adult learners 18 and older. We provide coursework toward completing the required credits for students to earn an Indiana Core 40 diploma (not a TASC/GED/HSE program). Our students benefit from a structured learning environment with direct/ face-to-face instruction, an accelerated format, small classes, and individualized attention that meets the unique needs of adult learners.
All students are assigned a life coach providing academic and personal counseling to support students pursuing their goals.
Our staff has a significant impact on the lives of students seeking a second chance to change their lives.
The Excel Center also requires students to earn industry-recognized certificates and/or dual credit college courses. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative team to assist in this endeavor.
Summary
The Recruiter, Retention and Alumni Coordinator (RRAC) plays a key role in supporting The Excel Center's mission by leading recruitment, retention, and alumni engagement efforts. This full-time, year-round position serves two campuses-either Hammond & Gary or Elkhart & South Bend-and helps adults age 18 and over return to school to earn their Indiana Core 40 high school diploma.
Compensation:
$45,000
Responsibilities:
Design and implement recruitment strategies to attract adult learners.
Create and maintain a recruitment and retention calendar aligned with enrollment periods and key community events.
Support student retention through proactive outreach and engagement efforts.
Record and manage outreach, retention, and alumni data in the student information system.
Collaborate with life coaches, teachers, and campus directors to identify and re-engage at-risk or withdrawn students.
Partner with the marketing team to develop outreach materials.
Represent The Excel Center at community events and with local organizations.
Establish a regular schedule for visiting local school districts to connect with prospective students.
Develop and maintain alumni engagement initiatives.
Maintain a detailed time and outreach activity log.
Prepare and present recruitment and retention data reports to leadership to inform future strategies.
Conduct regular student check-ins to identify and address barriers to retention.
Submit weekly and end-of-term recruitment and retention reports.
Build and maintain relationships with key community partners, with check-ins at least once per term.
Coordinate visits from community partners to school campuses.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma required.
Associate or bachelor's degree in education, communications, social work, or a related field.
Proven experience working with adult learners or in community outreach settings.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities across two school locations.
Comfortable with public speaking and actively engaging with diverse community groups.
Proficient in data tracking and maintaining alumni relationships.
Deep commitment to educational equity and providing second-chance learning opportunities.
Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred but not required.

Pay Levels (These rates are set as the standard and may differ based on state minimum wage regulations or prevailing rate of location):
Training Level: Below 80 pieces per hour: Starting rate at $11 per hour.
The employee will have four weeks to achieve a goal of 80 pieces per hour (PPH). If this goal is not reached within four weeks, coaching and ongoing support from management will be provided to assist in attaining this goal. After eight weeks, if the 80 PPH goal is not met and there are no qualifying open positions, termination may be considered. However, the primary aim is to transition the employee to an available position whenever possible, unless attendance or other performance issues are being addressed.
Level 2: 80-90 pieces per hour: Increases to $15 per hour upon reaching 80 PPH for the first time.
If PPH drops below 80, the employee will be allotted a three-week period for improvement before progressive discipline is initiated, including coaching and warnings. These warnings expire after six months.
Level 3 (High Performers): 91-110 pieces per hour - Increases to $16 per hour (requires a 3-week average of at least 91 before pay change is effective).
Level 4 (High Performers): 111-130+ pieces per hour - Increases to $17 per hour (requires a 3-week average of at least 111 before pay change is effective).
Once Level 3 or 4 is reached, the employee will be required to maintain the PPH to stay at the High Performer pay level. If the PPH falls below this level, a three-week period for improvement is implemented. Failure to do so may result in performance discussions and associated pay adjustments.
Additional Expectations:
Daily recording of PPH for tracking purposes is mandatory. Failure to do so may impact pay rate.
Z-racks are considered 100 pieces per rack.

A day in the life of a Grab Bag Assembler
Each day, the stores will send to our corporate office boxes of odd-ball miscellaneous items that could be sold if only someone could organize and package them. That's where you come in! You get to go through the boxes and check items for quality. Items that meet our standards are then sorted, packaged, priced and boxed to go back to our stores for sale. You may also help with training volunteers or others who may be assisting with assembling grab bags.
While Goodwill will provide all the training you might need for this position, we do require someone that can be depended upon to work their schedule, be able to lift, push and/or pull up to 20 pounds occasionally to move objects, and be able to use basic tools such as box cutters, tape guns, hole punchers and stapler/staple removers.
We anticipate that this position will be scheduled @ 12 hours per week, and can be somewhat flexible (within corporate office hours).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Unbox donated items and inspect items for quality/damage.
Separate damaged items from sellable items.
Clean sellable donated items as needed.
Sort items into similar categories.

Label, seal and price bags.
Box the grab bags and label the box for distribution to a store.
