    Job DescriptionDescription: This position is responsible for the collection and distribution of food for the Food Rescue program. **This posting is for an on-call fill-in driver who can be available M - F for shifts running 6am - 2:30pm** Position Requirements: Must pass pre-employment drug screen as required by DOT regulations and maintain DOT medical examiner's certificate. Motor vehicle record must meet organization and DOT standards Essential Functions: Drive and operate Food Rescue trucks. Collect and deliver donated food to pantries and partner agencies. Represent Food Rescue and Goodwill Northern Michigan to donors and agencies. Maintain Food Rescue vehicles and refrigeration in clean, good running condition. Adhere to all policies and procedures as established in the Goodwill Manual. Primary Responsibilities: 1. Support the mission and vision of Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan. 2. Perform work in a safe manner by observing all Goodwill safety policies and procedures. 3. Interact with all Goodwill team members, clients, and customers in a professional manner. 4. Communicate regularly with FR Director to ensure good customer service throughout Food Rescue service area. 10. Trains and leads volunteer riders to ensure safety and effectiveness. 11. Maintains great customer service internally and externally. 12. Adhere to all Goodwill Northern Michigan policies and procedures. 13. Comply with Michigan seasonal weight restrictions ("frost laws") and adjust routes or loads as required during thaw periods to protect roadways and ensure legal operation. 14. Other duties as assigned by manager. Requirements: Education, Licenses, Certifications and Experience: Valid Michigan Driver's License with safe, clean driving record. Have or ability to obtain Chauffeur License or CDL. Have or ability to obtain DOT Medical Certification Tier 1 Serve Safe Certification. High School Diploma / GED Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Familiarity with community donation sites and agencies. Knowledge of maps of Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Kalkaska, Antrim and Benzie counties. Excellent customer service skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. Knowledge of and sensitivity to persons with disabilities or who are disadvantaged. Ability to work with a variety of people. Ability to multi-task. Self-starter, personally motivated and dependable. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard and knowledge of basic math. Physical Requirements: Drives and operates trucks and vehicles. Routinely sits, stands, and walks throughout the workday. Routinely bends, stoops, and stretches throughout the day. Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted. Assist or attend to an ill or injured person within certification guidelines after summoning professional 911 emergency medical care. Follow all procedures for documentation of any injury or incident. Attend trainings and staff meetings as scheduled. Other duties as assigned by the Management Staff. Requirements: Education, Licenses, Certifications and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required; some college in human services field preferred. Some post-secondary education in human services field preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Knowledge and understanding of circumstances and issues of homelessness. Previous experience in counseling, human services, housing, substance abuse and/or job placement preferred. Good phone etiquette, able to type 30wpm and basic computer knowledge. Able to multitask.
