A DAY IN THE LIFE AS AN ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER
As an Assistant Store Manager you provide support and assistance to the Store Manager in all areas in the completion of their duties. These duties including initiating the interview process by reviewing applications, scheduling of employees, assisting in appraising performance and making recommendations for disciplinary action. You direct, supervise, and train retail staff in completion of daily duties in the areas of donations, processing and sales. You operate the cash register and point of sale system accurately and efficiently. You perform opening and closing procedures along with banking procedures including daily reconciliation, and make nightly cash deposits as needed. With attention to detail, you complete reports such as donation counts, readings, daily business statements, deposits, cash drawer balances and complete monthly store audits.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER
Ability to lift and move up to 30 lbs.
Able to operate cash register, perform stock duties and provide customer service
Ability to drive and carry a valid driver's license and proof of insurance
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
Basic mathematical skills
Previous supervisory and training experience in customer service with retail or food service experience along with knowledge of cash register procedures, stock control, banking procedures, merchandising and display is highly desirable. Education and Experience:

If assigned to Field Operations Division: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by college-level coursework and/or specialized technical training in a related field and five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in water utility or public works maintenance, including two (2) years of supervisory and/or administrative experience. A two-year or four-year college degree is preferred.
If assigned Engineering and Water Quality Division: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or a related field and five (5) years of increasingly responsible civil engineering and/or water utility experience, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
* Valid California class C driver's license with satisfactory driving record and automobile insurance.
If assigned to Field Operations:
* Valid Grade III Water Distribution Operator Certificate and Grade II Water Treatment Operator Certificate issued by State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB).
If assigned to Engineering and Water Quality Division:
* Valid certificate or registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California.
