Role Overview

Role Overview

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS AN OUTLET ASSOCIATE
As an Outlet Associate, you play a vital role in supporting our mission of providing employment-related services to the community by participating in all areas of the store's daily operations. Every day is a little something different and offers both variety and routine! You will get training and experience in customer service, cashiering, evaluating, sorting and organizing used merchandise, transporting goods to and from the retail floor, rotating old merchandise off the sales floor, and general cleaning and organizing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN OUTLET ASSOCIATE
Minimum of six months' experience in a retail store operating a cash register; counting money and making change.
Must have a pleasant and friendly attitude.
Ability to read, write, and speak English and have a basic math aptitude.
Ability to realistically assess values of merchandise.
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and be able to stand for long periods at a time; bend, reach and stretch repeatedly during a shift.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

*Provide good customer relations; greet customers, offer assistance in selecting merchandise and offer alternative or additional merchandise when customer is making purchase. Greet every customer with “Good Morning (afternoon)” offer assistance as indicated and thanks them for their purchase.
* Maintain neat and orderly store appearance: stock merchandise, return merchandise to proper place, rearrange merchandise moved by customers, dust, sweep, and complete all other housekeeping duties.
* Assist in rotating merchandise according to established procedures.
* Accurately operate a cash register, including sales, voids, over-rings, correct pricing, inventory control, receipting to customer, accepting money, credit cards, checks, and making change. Responsible for cash register funds including before and after counts, daily reports, and accounting for overages and shortages.
* Ensure that checks are stamped, security procedures are followed, and identification is received from customers before accepting checks.
* Assist Management with cash, cash receipts, bank deposits and the security of the safe combination, keys to the store if assigned, and reporting all unusual or suspicious occurrences as they happen to management.
Assist with the security of the cash register, store inventory, and observes all customers to reduce pilferage of Goodwill property. Recognize items donated or purchased by Goodwill belong to the company and are not to be taken, given away or sold inappropriately.
Relieve other Associates during breaks, lunches and emergencies.
Assist customers in dressing rooms; keep area clean at all times.
Assist with achieving sales goals for the store.
Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
Works closely with all staff s to ensure donations reach the sales floor within 24 hours.
Clean up all work areas at the end of each shift.
Follows all company and department policies and procedures.
Follow all safety rules/processes; Report accidents or injuries immediately.
Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona, Inc. and persons receiving services.
Assist in other areas as requested.
