Pros of working at Goodwill Sacramento Valley & Northern Nevada

It's a job that doesn't require an education or experience.

Cons of working at Goodwill Sacramento Valley & Northern Nevada

Overworked and underpaid. Zero recognition out acknowledgement for improvement, being reliable, being flexible accommodating their changing schedule needs, or just being the best employee you can be. Your recognition is that you still have a job. Lots of favoritism. They love to write employees up rather than be supportive to a challenged employee who is working to improve themselves. If you have any neurological issues, don't expect management to understand. You'll just get a write-up

What do you like best about Goodwill Sacramento Valley & Northern Nevada's CEO and the leadership team?

It's hard to keep up with the changing management. They don't talk to the bottom workers.

How would you improve Goodwill Sacramento Valley & Northern Nevada's culture?

They need a suggestion box. They should follow their own mission statement and support their employees with training, recognition, understanding for employees with disabilities. Goodwill management should attend mandatory mental health disability training. That are uneducated in that respect, and will cause more harm than good. They should give all all employees, especially ones with 5+years employment the opportunity and training to make enough earnings that they don't become homeless. Playing with work hours causes anxiety for employees

What brings you the most joy at Goodwill Sacramento Valley & Northern Nevada?

My customers are the best part of my job. Clocking out from my shift is the next best part. Treatment of employees has gone downhill in the past 6 years. They have no appreciation. Policies are ever changing without informing all employees. If you happen to be off work, no one will inform you of what you missed. They expect things from us as if we're working for the Pentagon, but receiving the paper boys pay.

Pros of working at Goodwill Sacramento Valley & Northern Nevada

The people! I also like the good feeling I get when I see a homeless person come in to the store and ask for help with something like a pair of shoes, a warm blanket, or warm jacket that they desperately need. As I watch the manager help this person get those things and give them to him for free oh, it just warms my soul. I've seen them go out of their way to get the item a homeless person needs, and refuse their money when I try to give them the little money they have.

Cons of working at Goodwill Sacramento Valley & Northern Nevada

retail employees are all pretty much stuck at minimum wage unless they move to management. I also don't like that we are not allowed to shop at our own stores.

Goodwill Sacramento Valley & Northern Nevada benefits

The employee discount, and the contests and rewards the company offers employees during different times of the year.
