Gotham Greens was founded in 2009 in Brooklyn, New York and currently employs over 150 full time team members.
Since its pioneering launch in 2011, Gotham Greens has grown from a single urban rooftop greenhouse in Brooklyn to a multi-state indoor farming leader and one of the largest hydroponic leafy greens producers in North America.
Back around 2011, it was a lot of cold calling companies and pitching them on the concept for Gotham Green’s sales professionals.
In 2017, for instance, the company started selling so-called “ugly greens” that had blemishes or other defects and, while edible, not up cosmetic standards.
BROOKLYN, N.Y., June 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Gotham Greens, a leading urban greenhouse developer and grower of locally and sustainably grown produce, has announced the closing of $29 million in Series C equity funding last month.
Then, in May 2020, it opened a 30,000-square-foot facility in Colorado.
By the end of 2020, Gotham Greens had secured more funding to fuel future expansion amid a year where retail sales increased dramatically.
