The MORPC Local Government Summer Internship Program provides the opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to obtain practical work experience with a local government within MORPC's 15-county region to prepare them for possible careers in public service. MORPC coordinates the recruitment and placement of students to match each host's request; hosts make the final hiring decision and provide an hourly wage. Interns work for a host for a minimum of 16 hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week for a 10- to 14-week period, which means there are both part-time and full-time positions available. The summer 2026 internship program will begin on May 12th and will end on August 14th.
Interns gain applicable knowledge to enhance classroom learning by working with current government professionals throughout Central Ohio and acquire insights into the services provided by a regional planning commission. Interns also can attend monthly commission meetings as well as special MORPC-sponsored events and are paired with a MORPC staff member to serve as their mentor during the summer internship program.
Previous Communications/Marketing interns have gained experience using Adobe Suite (Audition, Premiere Pro, InDesign, and Illustrator specifically), Canva, CivicSend, Canto, Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite, UKG Ready, Microsoft 365, and other software programs on the job. Specific past assignments include:
* Writing and distributing articles, press releases, and a summer newsletter
* Building a social media calendar and creating posts in accordance with said calendar
* Developing a social media strategy and policy while communicating in brand voice
* Drafting graphics in addition to performing interviews for social media, including posts, story highlights, reels, etc.
* Taking and editing photos/videos to serve as a media library to be used for future events, summer camps, and park promotion as well as department spotlights and internal or external newsletters
* Preparing for, facilitating, and engaging with summer camps that serve over 100 local middle schoolers
* Grant writing assistance
* Activities related to event management/promotion/execution
* Editing websites with current data and other duties as assigned

Essential Job Functions
Responsibilities of Forensic Interns will vary based on the intern's field of interest. The goal of the program is to help prepare interns to assume duties in a forensic setting after graduation, by participating in a learning experience under the supervision of an experienced professional. Some academic programs require students to complete a forensic project during their internship. Every effort will be made to facilitate the completion of such a project.
Minimum Requirements
Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university with junior or senior status. Must be majoring in biology, chemistry, physical science or forensic science.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office and Cuyahoga County Regional Forensic Science Laboratory has established an internship program, which provides training in a number of forensic program areas such as; Drug chemistry, Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Photography, Toxicology, and Trace Evidence Investigation. Interns will also have minor exposure to other forensic disciplines while participating in their specific internship experience. The program will be structured to meet the needs of Forensic Science majors that require an internship as part of their core curriculum and/or students wishing to pursue a career in Forensic Science. The program will provide students a hands on learning opportunity to learn about a variety of technical and best practices in the field of forensic science.

Job Summary
The Guest Services Intern plays an important role in creating a welcoming and efficient environment for guests and staff by supporting daily operations, meeting services, and event coordination. Reporting to the Manager, Venue and Guest Services, this position helps maintain high service standards. The intern will assist with greeting visitors, wayfinding, preparing meeting spaces, and responding to guest needs, while also supporting initial venue rental inquiries and collaborating with colleagues across departments. This role offers hands-on experience in hospitality and venue operations, providing valuable learning opportunities in event management, customer service, and professional communication.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a warm, professional, and welcoming presence for all guests.
Provide wayfinding support and direct visitors to meetings, events, and resources.
Respond to guest requests with flexibility and attention to detail, including water, coffee, AV assistance, and meeting materials.
Assist with setup and reset of meeting spaces for 400+ events annually, ensuring rooms are ready and clean to Foundation standards.
Support seating arrangements, signage, and AV preparation.
Provide timely responses to last-minute meeting or event needs.
Serve as the first point of contact for prospective clients and partners interested in venue rentals.
Collect and share lead details with the Real Estate team for follow-up.
Provide accurate information on venue amenities and availability using TCF standard marketing materials.
Maintain and restock guest-facing supplies, including coffee, water, and meeting materials.
Monitor meeting spaces and report facility or AV issues as needed.
Partner with Real Estate team members to ensure all spaces remain safe, accessible, and inviting.
Work closely with all colleagues at The Foundation to deliver a seamless guest experience.
Always represent the Foundation with professionalism and a customer-first mindset.
Perform other guest services-related tasks as assigned.

+ Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, and/or similar field.
+ Duration: Summer 2026. Up to 40 hours per week. Part-time during the school year may be available.
+ Working Arrangements: On-site based at our manufacturing facility in Toledo, OH.

Holden Arboretum Internship Opportunity: The Community Forestry & Conservation department is seeking a summer interns. The Conservation Intern candidates will assist with both natural resource management and conservation education and outreach. The Conservation Interns will work with other Holden Forests & Garden Departments with opportunities for cross-training. The Conservation Interns will work closely with other Holden Forests & Gardens' departments for large project efforts in Urban Forestry, Conservation, and Research. The interns will work closely with other interns in the Community Forestry department. Additionally, all members of the Holden Forests & Gardens' (HF&G) intern cohort will have the chance to participate in professional development, such as workshops, scientific lectures, networking, and field trip experiences. All interns will have the opportunity to develop and present their research at HF&G's SEARCH symposium. This position is based at the Holden Arboretum campus in Kirtland, OH with occasional travel to the Cleveland Botanical Garden in Cleveland, OH.
Position Details:

* Help with education and outreach material for conservation education

* Work with supervisor to develop and complete an independent project which will be presented at the SEARCH symposium at the end of the internship
