WHAT YOU WILL DO

Duties and Responsibilities:

Implements and maintains a robust governance and controls framework to ensure risks are appropriately managed, taking into account business strategy as well as changes in the operating model, technology and the external environment. Design and implement policies, processes and other value adding improvements where required.

Develops and executes plans to assess compliance with the Group Controls Matrix (GCM) as well as local (legal) requirements. Responsible for routine testing of controls and reporting to the Group Internal Control CoE.

Challenge and support management's continuous assessment of existing and emerging risks, through a strong understanding of the business, key processes and control environment. Coordinates the periodic risk assessment process, including any reporting.

Keeps up to date knowledge of Company policies, standards, and requirements and ensures that, where appropriate/required, the US organization is aligned. This will require building effective relationships with the Group's “second line of defense” units and the Group Internal Control CoE

Coordinator internal and external audits. Advises management on and drive the implementation of audit actions and associated improvement activity, including regular progress reports.

Acts as a local subject matter expert on governance, internal control, and risk management. Supports Management on a range of topics to include, but is not limited to, Business Continuity and Crisis Management planning, IT General Controls, Code of Conduct, Approvals Matrix and Financial Controls.

Performs or facilitates key verification controls in the areas of user access to key applications, business continuity testing and master data changes.

Other ad hoc projects toward business improvement

Management of routine testing and reporting, as well devising continuous improvements in processes and controls.

Key coordinator for internal audits and follow-ups

General Summary:
This Manager position will contribute to the implementation of new Company initiatives for the Accounting and Tax Department. The position will be a primary SME for accounting and tax matters related to each assigned initiative. The candidate for the position must take ownership of their assigned project area and be able to lead medium to large scale projects with limited or no supervision. Additionally, the candidate must have superior time management skills to enable them to manage flexible and often changing deadlines and work flow structure. This position will collaborate with other team members as well as counterparties in other departments while maintaining excellent internal controls and a high level of service to all stakeholders. This position will also support the department governance program. This includes but is not limited to supporting and assisting with planning, internal controls, technical accounting research as needed, and policies and procedures documentation.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Act as the accounting and tax subject matter expert for the Department on assigned Company initiatives; this includes partnering both within the department and with other departments to achieve timely and accurate technical guidance, testing, issue resolution and training other members of the Accounting and Tax department. Researches and documents assigned technical accounting topics, completes analysis and forms information into potential solutions including presentation to Controller. Assists with the documentation of new desktop procedures, General Ledger mapping, and all other ad hoc requests regarding assigned Company initiatives.
Supports the department planning activities and internal control program. Maintains and documents policies and procedures including working with counterparts within the department to complete annual P&P updates.
Perform assigned month-end close tasks; provide internal and external audit support; all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Possesses advanced analytical, technical and problem solving skills.
Excellent time management skills.
Strong understanding and application of U.S. GAAP (applying accounting principles to daily work) and the ability to perform research on proper accounting principles per U.S. GAAP as needed.
Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Good working knowledge in using Oracle ERP and in creating OBIEE and Brio inquiries.
Highly self-motivated.

Qualifications
5+ years in accounting or finance experience
Application of U.S. GAAP at prior employment preferred
Prior experience in auto captive finance or financial services industry preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
