The institution began with the organization of Grace Theological Seminary under the leadership of Alva J. McClain in 1937.
Alva J. McClain served as president until 1962, when he was succeeded by his colleague and fellow co-founder Herman A. Hoyt.
Grace College president, Doctor Ron Manahan, officially announced and named the Institute during Commencement ceremonies on May 9, 2009 as the William P. Gordon Institute for Enterprise Development.
Tim served as director until he was named director of Online Education in August 2011.
The Institute has developed a strategic plan to support Grace College and the School of Business activities through 2018.
