The settlement was considered so important, according to a Manuscript History of Northampton County written by Matthew S. Henry in 1851, that during the Indian Wars between 1755 and 1764, Gnadenthal was stockaded.
Established in 1906, members of the Northampton County Historical & Genealogical Society have preserved the past, served the present, and shaped the future of Northampton County through research, production of papers and books, and growing and maintaining collections in old and new places.
Mixsell House Museum and Resource Center (4th & Ferry Sts. , Easton) - In 1929, a gala was held to open the new Society headquarters at 4th and Ferry Streets.

In 1951, the Moravian Church of America gave permission to use “Gracedale”, the English translation of “Gnadenthal”, which translates to “Dale of Grace” or “Kindness”. Previously, Gracedale was referred to as “The Northampton County Home”.

In the years leading up to 1988, the Canadian goose population grew, the pond was plagued by algae growth, and insect infestations forced the County to consider an alternative to the pond.
