Job Description
The Athletics Department at Coker University has numerous graduate assistant positions open for the 2023-24 academic year within the athletics department. These positions include: athletics media relations, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, tennis, and track, and field. The primary responsibilities will be to assist the head coach in all facets of the program, including the recruitment of quality student-athletes, organization and planning of practices, game preparation, administrative duties, scouting, and monitoring of student-athlete academic progress.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and admission into the graduate program is required. Experience as an intercollegiate athlete or coach, a valid driver's license, and knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations are required. AED/CPR certification prior to employment is also required.
Each of the assistantships includes tuition remission and a stipend. The positions are 10-month appointments that are renewable for a second year. * Inform current graduate students of Graduate School policies and procedures.
* Inform current graduate students of departmental requirements for MA and PhD programs.
* Coordinate comprehensive exam oral defenses, MA thesis defenses and PhD defenses. Includes announcements to the graduate school, scheduling rooms/times, and collecting and submitting associated paperwork.
* Maintain database of current students containing all pertinent academic information.
* Maintain alumni database.
* Departmental liaison with Admissions, Graduate School, International Programs, and the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences business/dean's office.
* Collect and submit Graduate School travel award applications for interested graduate students.
* Ensure departmental and graduate school deadlines are met by tracking graduate student degree progress.
* Create 7000/9000 course sections in Banner, clear advising flags, and assist students with course registration as needed.
* Maintain student directory on website.
* Prepare and submit to Franklin Works hiring proposals, terminations, and all payroll information each semester for all students and Teaching / Research assistants.
* Process and manage various forms through GradStatus including: Request for Change of Degree Objective; Application for Admission to Candidacy for Doctoral Degrees, Tuition waivers; Approval form for Doctoral Dissertation and Final Oral Examination; Comprehensive Exam Announcement; Dissertation Defense Announcement; Program of Study and others.
* Provide specific graduate student performance data to director of graduate studies to complete surveys and other annual reviews.
* Work closely with designated Payroll Manager for Romance Languages to provide the Franklin Business office with timely notifications of teaching assistant and research assistant hiring requests, terminations, and SWB notifications. Submit all hiring requests through smartsheet intake form.

The salary for the fellowship is $60,000, and Postdoctoral Teaching Fellows will be eligible for the same benefits as regular faculty. This position is annually renewable, for up to three years.
Position Description
The fellow will teach introductory courses in biology and R programming to first- and second-year undergraduate students, receive structured mentoring and professional development to prepare for a full-time faculty position at a teaching-intensive institution, receive training in inclusive pedagogy, support for research and grant writing, and have opportunities to engage in the academic, social, and cultural life of Oxford College.
We will consider applicants from a broad range of biological subfields, as long as the candidate has experience with data analysis in the R programming language. The successful candidate will teach both "Foundations of Modern Biology I" (which includes a lab and covers topics in cellular and molecular biology, genetics, biodiversity, and evolution) and "Statistical Computing I" (an applied introduction to data analysis in R that does not require any formal computer science background to teach). The latter course is housed in the Quantitative Theory and Methods (QTM) department. The teaching load for this position will be the equivalent of one lecture and two lab sections (Biology) in the fall and up to three lecture sections (QTM) in the spring. Structured support and mentoring will be provided for both courses by senior members of the departments.
The goal of the postdoctoral teaching fellow program is to support the mentoring of fellows and equip them with skills for a full-time faculty position at a teaching intensive institution. As such, the primary focus of this program is to support the pedagogical development of the fellow and the advancement of a research program is not required or expected.
