The Sport and Recreation Leadership master's degree program invites applications for a 20 hour/week graduateassistantship working with Tony Britt Spotter Charts, LLC for academic year 2026-2027.
Since 2020, Tony Britt Spotter Charts LLC has partnered with the James Madison University Sport and Recreation Leadership Master's degree program to offer this graduateassistant position. This is a unique experience where students gain professional experience in sports information, technology and logistics while attending classes. This business, located in Harrisonburg,VA, helps nearly 400 of America's top sportscasters at 23 NFL teams, 68 CFB teams, CBS, ESPN, FOX, NBC & NFL Network as well as most TV, radio & streaming networks. Graduateassistantships include enrollment in the Sport and Recreation graduate program (Sport & Recreation concentration, preferred) and involve 20 hours of work per week at Tony Britt Spotter Charts, LLC during the academic school year. Duties and Responsibilities:
Chart Delivery
* Email finished charts to print shops ensuring accurate information
* Follow up with the print shops via phone to confirm pick up times for the client
* Communicate with clients regarding their chart
* Update client profiles as needed
Data Entry and Verification
* Update player bios as needed
* Update depth charts of every relevant team on a weekly basis
* Assist with final proofing of other data specialists work
Chart Production and File Management
* Enter chart specifications for each client
* Format auto-generated charts on company website to match client preferences
* Assist with final proofing of other data specialists work
* Export finished chart using Adobe Pro (provided) and save as a PDF
Qualifications:
● Must be accepted into the Sport and Recreation Leadership graduate program (Sport & Recreation concentration, preferred) at James Madison University
● Bachelor's degree required
● Passion for sports, attention to detail and spreadsheet skills useful

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Provides responsible administrative, clerical, and human support in assisting the classroom teacher in the management and instruction of students; performs related tasks as required and directed; all work is performed under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher, however, the aide may independently carry out particular aspects of the instructional program which include activities outside of the normal school facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Carries out instructional plans as designated by the classroom teacher and if appropriate the student's Individual Educational Plan (IEP);
Carries out follow-up and review lessons;
Develops and maintains pleasant and orderly classroom environment (e.g., maintain instructional materials, design bulletin boards, assist special education teacher and/or students in clean up activities, etc.);
Assists teacher in maintaining appropriate level of classroom behavior and control;
With classroom teacher's knowledge and approval, carries out appropriate discipline of students;
Procures, sets up, and operates audio-visual equipment;
Assists students in completion of learning tasks assigned by classroom teachers;
Assists teacher in related instructional activities (e.g., field trips, library, assembly, etc.) as directed;
Assists in physical movement of students from one learning environment to another;
Performs such duties as attendance recording and collection of lunch monies as directed by classroom teacher;
Performs such clerical duties as typing, filing, and duplicating at direction of classroom teacher;
Supervises students in lunchroom or during lunch period;
Supervises students during free time and other non-instructional periods as directed by classroom teacher;
Under supervision of classroom teacher and/or building principal, assists in maintenance of students' records;
Assists with toileting, feeding, and positioning of students;
Participates in team meetings;
Assists with medical related duties, i.e. catheterization, gastrointestinal feedings, assistive breathing devices, colostomy and ileostomy needs;
Assisting with carry over of related services, i.e., Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech,

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to develop and maintain an empathetic attitude toward disabled students; willing to learn specialized instructional/management techniques employed with disabled students; ability to communicate and develop effective working relationships with students, parents, and staff; must be high school graduate or hold equivalence of a high school diploma and be willing to seek and maintain CPR certification.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school including basic keyboard and filing training.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:
Duties performed typically in school settings to include: classroom, gym, cafeteria, auditorium and recreational areas. Frequent walking, standing, light lifting, up to 40 pounds, and other limited physical activities are required. Occasional travel with students on field trips may be necessary. Occasional movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required. Occasional lifting of equipment such as audio-visuals weighing up to 50 pounds may be required. Occasional attendance to parent conferences, building-level meetings and division wide meetings and training activities beyond normal assigned hours is necessary. Daily personal close contact with children to provide classroom management and learning environment support is required. Regular contact with other staff members, parents and medical professional may be required. Contacts with community and division-level staff may require considerable tact and diplomacy.

Graduateassistantships include enrollment in the Sport and Recreation graduate program (Campus Recreation concentration) and involve 20 hours of work per week at UREC during the academic school year. Graduateassistants will begin work prior to the start of the school year and the position continues through the end of the academic year.
In addition to the stipend, positions include a tuition waiver, a professional development stipend, and an academic book or dining benefit.
Individuals may apply for this graduateassistantship prior to academic admission, however, an individual must be accepted into a graduate program before an offer will be made. Preference for UREC graduateassistantships is given to those admitted to the Sport and Recreation Leadership, Campus Recreation concentration. Duties and Responsibilities:
The GraduateAssistant for Intramural Sports will coordinate team sport officials and site managers training, supervision and evaluation. This GA will provide leadership to the Intramural Sports site manager and sport officials student staffs and will coordinate selected aspects of Intramural Sports program planning.
Facility supervision and operational responsibilities for the University Recreation Center and satellite facilities on a rotating weekend basis. Attends and actively participates in all required departmental and divisional meetings, retreats and trainings. Attends and participates in meetings, committees and trainings related to the UREC GA role.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in related field.
Sports officiating and officials training experience preferred.
