Primary Responsibilities
Grading and Assessment (80% of role)
Grade student assignments, examinations, and projects according to instructor-provided rubrics

Maintain detailed grading records and ensure accuracy in all assessments
Calculate and record grades in appropriate systems within specified timeframes
Administrative Support (20% of role)
Attend brief meetings with supervising faculty to discuss grading expectations and student progress
Assist with organizing and distributing graded materials to students
Support faculty with other academic tasks as assigned and time permits

Timeliness: All assignments must be graded and returned within deadlines established by supervising faculty
Consistency: Apply grading rubrics uniformly across all student submissions

We are anticipating a vacancy for the spring 2026 semester.
University Housing and Conference Services is seeking Graduate Assistants for assignment in South Village Residence Hall
The Graduate Assistant position within UHCS begins in early January and continues one week after the closing of the residence halls in May.
The Graduate Assistant is responsible for helping to provide leadership and direction to a comprehensive student development program for a residential community. The Graduate Assistant is also responsible for a variety of administrative and operational functions.
Graduate Assistants in this role may be able to use this position as part of
their field experience requirements in their master's program. Please consult your program coordinator for more information.
Required Qualifications
All graduate assistants must be enrolled in a Millersville University graduate program; non-degree students and those only seeking post-baccalaureate certification are not eligible.
Full-time Graduate Assistants must be enrolled in and maintain a minimum of 6 credits in Fall semester and in Spring semester. Part-time Graduate assistants must be enrolled in and maintain a minimum of 3 credits if Fall semester and in Spring semester.
The GA is required to live in a suite in a residence hall.
The GA will be on-call at certain times of the academic year, this may include break periods including Thanksgiving and winter break.
Due to the nature of this assignment, the GA may be limited to having outside employment.
This opportunity requires a commitment to the educational potential of
residence halls and demonstrated skills in the following areas: communication
organization/planning, and administration.
If you are a Millersville graduate, you must be in good disciplinary standing.

Job Duties
Support and maintain a residential environment, which is conducive to the overall development of students and is supportive of the academic mission of the University and of the academic goals and pursuits of students:
1. Select, train, supervise, and evaluate a diverse staff of 7-21 Desk Attendants.
2. Hold regular staff and individual meetings with the Desk Attendants to review student and community concerns, problem-solve, and give direction.
3. May be asked to drive a University-owned vehicle in order to develop, plan, and coordinate academic related services.
4. Assist with the administrative portion of the student conduct process as directed by the Student Conduct and Community Standards Office or University Housing and Conference Services staff.
5. Works closely with key offices (Counseling Center, Learning Services, Student Conduct and Community Standards, Registrars, Academic Advisement, etc.) to identify and intervene as early as possible with students whose behavior suggests the need for support services.
6. Serves as a resource for managing reports of behavioral, academic and social concerns on campus as well as responding to inquiries and providing appropriate follow-up to reports.
Coordinate, maintain, and monitor the administrative and operational functions associated with the management of a residential community:
1. Enforce and monitor policies and procedures that affect the residence hall operation.
2. In conjunction with the Residential Area Director and Associate Director of University Housing and Conference Services monitor the day-to-day custodial and maintenance functions within the residence halls.
Other Responsibilities:
1. Attend weekly meetings with the Residential Area Director, and other departmental meetings.
2. Serve as the "on-call" staff person on a regularly scheduled rotation with other GAs and professional staff (August - May).
3. Be available for all residence hall openings/closings, break housing, and all training for Graduate Assistants and student staff.
4. Assist with various committees (GA Selection, RA Selection & Training, Staff Development, and the Housing Banquet)
