The Clinical Program-Chicago is part of the Sexual Violence Support Services (SVSS) of the YWCA. The Clinical Program-Chicago provides crisis counseling and short and longer-term individual, family, and group therapy to survivors of sexual abuse and their non-offending significant others ages 3+. The program operates out of our Medical District Center located in Chicago, Illinois. All services are confidential and free to clients. The program accepts interns from Master's level Social Work, Counseling, and Art Therapy programs (second or final year only). We're making an investment in the next generation of veterinary doctors! As part of the professional veterinary curriculum, colleges encourage off-campus educational experiences in practices outside of the teaching hospital. Practical experience in a well-run and contemporary practice can be a valuable component of your veterinary education, preparing you to deliver better care after graduation. Our program is dedicated to contributing to your practice-readiness and to help you hit the ground running after graduation. Our program structure: Our externships are flexible-they can range from two to eight weeks during the year, according to your college curriculum - but are typically two or three weeks in length. Your schedule will include days, evenings and weekends. Our externship rotations are designed to allow students, under veterinary supervision, to practice the problem-solving, technical and communication skills that they have acquired during their clinical preparation. Externs are given the opportunity to work alongside our veterinary team and are encouraged to participate in all aspects of patient care. A stipend of $250 per week will be provided. What you'll be doing: Externs experience the typical caseload of a small animal practice. Under the supervision of your mentor doctor you will gather histories, perform physical examinations, develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans, scrub in to surgery, assist in the management of medical cases, provide wellness care, develop your client communication skills, polish your technical skills and produce appropriate medical records (SOAPs) within the time limits of daily practice. Who we're looking for: Extern students are expected to be enthusiastic and effective participants in our patient care activities, upholding the professional and ethical standards of our practice. Students participating in the externship program are suggested to review the Veterinary Practice Act in regard to the scope of duties that may be performed, and to be familiar with the type and degree of veterinary supervision that is required. These should be followed carefully in order to protect both yourself and our practice. As a veterinary student extern, we expect you to dress and behave in a professional manner and to meet the expectations that we have of all team members as outlined in our employee handbook. Kids Above All is seeking master level clinical interns for our Lake County location. Interns will work closely with house therapist. Interns and the house therapist will meet together with the clinical supervisor prior to the start date for the purpose of getting to know each other and determining which intern will fit best with which house. Interns are expected to work approximately 24 hours per week and to maintain a fairly consistent and predictable schedule. Essential Functions : Providing auxiliary clinical services to clients on an individual basis as needed and recommended by the treatment team. Inters may pick up additional family cases as recommended by the treatment team. Interns will work with all clients in the milieu setting to provide clinically appropriate interventions in the areas of processing, mediating arguments, implementing, coaching, and practicing coping strategies, resolving conflict, and in vivo problem-solving socio-emotional issues. Interns are expected to learn to take strategies clients are learning in therapy (i.e. grounding, deep breathing) and assist clients in real-world applications. Interns will work collaboratively with house therapist around how to best meet the clinical needs of clients in the home. Interns will conduct home visits. Must work in a socially diverse environment. Interns will seek opportunities to build clinical resources, group curriculum, rewards programs, etc. to aid and support the milieu as a therapeutic environment. Interns will take over the paper documentation for one client in its entirety and complete necessary documents within the appropriate time frame. Responsibilities: Consistent attendance and adherence to the posted schedule is a job requirement. Includes attendance of Park Discovery training, Security department training, and Security in-service training. Must meet all Human Resources requirements for internship program, including attendance of intern events/meetings. Clinical Intern STATUS: Intern GRADE: DEPT/PROGRAM NAME: SVSS reports to: SUPERVISES: N/A The YWCA Metropolitan Chicago is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. The Clinical Program-Suburban Chicago is part of the Sexual Violence Support Services (SVSS) of the YWCA. The Clinical Program-Suburban Chicago provides crisis counseling and short and longer-term individual, family, and group therapy to survivors of sexual abuse and their non-offending significant others ages 3+. The program operates out of our Patterson McDaniel Family Center located in Addison, Illinois. All services are confidential and free to clients. The program accepts interns from Master's level Social Work, Counseling, and Art Therapy programs (second or final year only). The Clinical Program-Suburban Chicago strives to have a culturally and ethnically diverse professional staff to best meet the needs of clients. Ideal candidates should be aware of cultural considerations and enjoy working with children and families. Counseling services are available in English and Spanish; therefore, bilingual Spanish-speaking interns are highly encouraged to apply. Interns will work both independently under the supervision of a licensed clinical therapist.
