The Research Associate will perform a variety of complex studies to include developing aerosol exposure systems, characterizing complex aerosols, documenting laboratory work, maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies. Independently writes proposals, final reports, and cost estimates. Documents laboratory work to acceptable standards and maintains laboratory/medical equipment and supplies in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), protocols and current federal regulations (FDA GLP). The successful candidate will collaborate with scientific staff and will author sections of publications based on research performed as well as perform all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned. May supervise technical staff and provides training. Qualifications Requires a masters degree in a related scientific discipline, engineering or physics and a minimum of 2 years demonstrated research experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained. Directly-related experience in an aerosol research lab is required for this Research Associate position, as is demonstrated success independently completing aerosol research projects. Experience should include conducting related research, writing reports and protocols, using a scientific approach to analyze, interpret and report data within project deadlines. Must have a demonstrated understanding of science research principles, practices and procedures and the ability to follow and enforce safety procedures. Experience in a broad background of scientific fields including aerosol sciences, mechanical engineering, and analytical chemistry is highly desired. Additional competencies within electrical engineering, toxicology and pharmacology are preferred. Requires strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. The Research Technologist assists in study execution; collects samples from and administers agents to research animals in accordance with IACUC standards with a large focus on necropsy on multiple species. Participation in other pathology and study specific related duties (tissue collection, trimming, specimen processing and management, etc.) will be required. The UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center is looking for an HS Research Specialist. This position performs varied, routine technical tasks associated with the execution of biochemistry laboratory and maintenance of small animal colony and research protocol. Studies in the Ohi laboratory focus on the microtubule cytoskeleton with an emphasis on tubulin post-translational modifications (PTMs) and tubulin PTM "readers". The successful applicant will be expected to carry out administrative and organizational tasks, which include ordering and upkeep of standard laboratory reagents. The FOR-NM Project (Forest Research for New Mexico Water and Carbon Management) seeks applications for a Research Scientist 3 position with a focus on data management. We are looking for a motivated and organized person with a background (MS degree preferred) in ecology, data analytics, remote sensing, GIS, and/or hydrology to join our team. This multi-institutional research program spans five institutions across the state of New Mexico including collaboration with Sandia National Laboratory. The project aims to improve management of New Mexico's forested watersheds by addressing key gaps in understanding of water and carbon dynamics in relation to forest management. Duties include collating and managing data with version-controlled programmatic workflows in R and/or Python, including large volumes of high-frequency sensor data and model outputs; working with investigators to design and deliver data products to open access repositories; and training participants to track and quality control data. Interest in participating in field work as approximately 15% of duties is strongly desired. Expertise in working with environmental sensor data and geospatial data (including remote sensing products) is required. This position will be based at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM. Partial but not fully remote work options can be considered for exceptional candidates.
